Petrovietnam visits and encourages authorities and people affected by storm No. 3 in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang

The working group discussed and reported on the situation and work to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3.
According to the damage report caused by storm No. 3 of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Ninh province, as of September 12, 2024, the whole province had 52 people injured; an estimated 8,069 public works, industrial works, apartment buildings, and individual houses were damaged; 3,772 level 4 houses and people's ancillary works had their roofs blown off; 190 schools, medical facilities, and people's markets were damaged; 57 headquarters of state agencies had their roofs blown off. 35,414 trees fell, directly affecting public works and people's traffic; 739 telecommunication stations were damaged and lost contact; 9,743.1 hectares of rice and nearly 2,000 hectares of fruit trees and crops were affected;...

To overcome the above damages, the Provincial Party Secretary, the Provincial Standing Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and organizations have mobilized many resources including: police, army, youth, ... to participate in responding to natural disasters; at the same time, organizing inspection teams to implement response to storms and floods and organizing visits and giving gifts to people in affected localities. In addition, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Ninh province supports people in areas affected by natural disasters to evacuate people and property to safe places, propagate and mobilize people to support food and provisions for the army, police, militia and self-defense forces to participate in dike protection, patrolling and guarding dikes, clearing trees and broken structures; and clearing roads.

Reporting on the situation and work to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Giang province informed that as of September 12, the total damage in the whole province was estimated at about 5,412 billion VND. Of which, 2 people were swept away by floodwaters, 7 injured people were taken to the emergency room and treated; 11 houses were completely collapsed; 3,278 houses were damaged and had their roofs blown off; about 5,965.5 m2 of school roofs were damaged; 857.5 m of fences, 14 school gates and 650 school trees were knocked down; 64 teaching equipment were severely damaged; 18,779 hectares of rice were flooded; 27,212 hectares of production forest and 15,199 urban trees were broken, etc.
Bac Giang province has mobilized resources to urgently evacuate nearly 14,000 households with about 42,000 people concentrated in Hiep Hoa, Yen Dung, Luc Nam, Yen The, Tan Yen, Lang Giang districts, Viet Yen town, and Bac Giang city. Functional units are actively restoring the operation of the infrastructure system, speeding up the progress of troubleshooting electricity, telecommunications, water, etc.; prioritizing resources to support schools and medical facilities in overcoming the consequences of the storm; focusing on visiting and encouraging policy households, near-poor households, and households whose houses collapsed due to the storm.
Currently, some residential areas in Viet Yen, Yen Dung, and Hiep Hoa districts are still deeply submerged in water, directly affecting people's lives. If the water recedes slowly, prolonged flooding can cause epidemics in humans, livestock, and environmental pollution...
Vice President of Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union Vu Anh Tuan discussed with leaders of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Giang province about disaster recovery work.
Speaking at the reception of support for overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, Mr. Vu Anh Tuan - Vice President of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union said that the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) is one of the leading economic groups in the country. In addition to production and business tasks, Petrovietnam always promotes social security work and considers it an important political task, the Group's responsibility to society and the country.
Every year, the Group and its member units spend about 500 - 700 billion VND on social security activities, including disaster relief.
Storm No. 3 has caused many localities to suffer heavy losses in terms of people, infrastructure, transportation, agriculture, industry, etc. On behalf of Petrovietnam employees, comrade Vu Anh Tuan shared the losses that the Party Committee, government, and people of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces suffered due to the impact of Storm No. 3.
With the spirit of sharing and affection of oil and gas workers, Petrovietnam and its member units PTSC and PETROSETCO promptly provided 2 billion VND in support funds to encourage and help households affected by natural disasters in the province, so that they can work and produce with peace of mind and soon stabilize their lives.

As of September 16, 2024, the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group has donated more than 40 billion VND to the Party Committee, government, and people of localities affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi).
