According to Petrovietnam, in the 50-year journey, the real turning point that changed the country's economic destiny came on June 26, 1986, when the first commercial oil was exploited from Bach Ho field, right at the beginning of the Doi Moi process.

In his speech, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated Petrovietnam's contributions to the achievements of 5 safe and 5 best. These are contributions of fundamental, basic, and great significance such as contributions to social security, created from core values: aspiration, will and belief.

Up to now, Petrovietnam has affirmed its autonomous and mature role in the oil and gas industry and energy industry, with the foundation of science and technology.

However, according to the General Secretary, this role is even more important in the context of a rapidly changing world, with the need to ensure energy security, economic security and national defense security.

Accordingly, the General Secretary suggested that Petrovietnam needs to firmly ensure national energy security with a three-layer model.

Including stable and flexible traditional sources; liquefied gas, storage, new sources such as wind power, nuclear power. Proactively reserve, regulate supply, and flexibly link energy security and national defense security.
