According to research from the University of Calgary (Canada), all living organisms - from humans, animals to plants - emit light without external stimulation. This biological phenomenon is called ultraweak photon emission (UPE).

According to the British newspaper Metro , many occultists have long believed that humans have an energy "aura" surrounding them. Now, scientists have observed a similar phenomenon, although it is not a spirit or supernatural energy.

This UPE phenomenon comes from the cell's metabolism. When cells use oxygen to convert energy (oxidative metabolism), molecules emit small amounts of photons - extremely small particles of light.

Unlike bioluminescence which produces high intensity light visible to the naked eye, UPE is the spontaneous emission of light at extremely low intensity, invisible to the naked eye and located in the spectral range of 200-1,000 nanometers (1 nanometer = 0.000000001 meter).

In experiments on mice placed in a dark room and recorded with a super-sensitive camera, living mice emitted significantly brighter light than recently dead mice.

Similar to plants, leaves also glow and glow more brightly when exposed to biological stressors such as temperature changes, injury or chemical exposure, which increase the amount of photons emitted.

The results showed that this faint light was a natural phenomenon of life, not a measurement error or the need for external influence.

“Ultraweak photon emissions are real and come from all living things,” said Dr Oblak, the study’s author. “While they do not represent a soul or spirit, as many people believe, they are nevertheless remarkable evidence that living bodies always emit a ‘light of life’ – and that it goes out as soon as life ends.”

The scientists suggest that these findings may promote the application of UPE imaging as a noninvasive technique in basic biological research and clinical diagnosis.
