Practice of revolutionary idealeducation for youth

During his lifetime, the outstanding issue that President Ho Chi Minh paid special attention to was the work of educating the young generation in political ideals and revolutionary ethics, in which the Vietnamese revolutionary press founded and led by President Ho Chi Minh was an important unit on this "front". He always requested and expected that the Vietnamese revolutionary press must help the youth have the right orientation in life ideals.

In the Ho Chi Minh era, the ideal of youth is to accompany the nation, to strive for the values of independence, freedom, and socialism, and to devote themselves to that ideal. And the press must always be a companion of youth on those journeys.

The history of the Vietnamese revolution proves that the revolutionary press has always been closely associated with the ups and downs of the country's history and has been a reliable guide for the people of the whole country, encouraging the country to follow the path chosen by the Party, Uncle Ho and the People. The press is not only the main means to propagate Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought, but also an effective tool to educate political awareness, foster patriotism, pride, national self-reliance, and promote the strength of the youth in each revolutionary stage of the country.

In the new context, the press's participation in educating the youth in revolutionary ideals, ethics, and lifestyles has been focused on in many aspects. The press has been proactive and active, together with sectors and levels, in building a healthy social environment for youth to practice, contribute, and mature. At the same time, it has created opportunities for youth to participate in healthy entertainment activities, enjoy culture, and a beautiful lifestyle to improve their physical and mental health. At the same time, in recent years, the press has performed well its role and mission in detecting, fighting, and preventing many cases of corruption, negativity, and waste, contributing to solving pressing social problems; creating many works of ideological value and high aesthetic orientation, contributing to building a healthy cultural environment, forming a cultural lifestyle and civic awareness for youth.

In addition, the press also regularly encourages and promotes patriotism and national pride among young people. In educating the younger generation, the press focuses on building activities that link the responsibility of young people with protecting national interests, considering honoring, setting examples, and encouraging young people to live beautifully, live usefully, and glorify the Fatherland as ways for the press to participate in educating young people about ideals, ethics, and lifestyles. Groups of educational information such as: core education (peace, freedom, work, family, health, security, justice, purposeful living, faith, independence, etc.), basic education (creativity, friendship, love, etc.), meaningful education (artistic values, beauty, etc.) are all conveyed through press messages.

However, the work of educating revolutionary ideals, ethics and lifestyle for young people by the press in recent times still has limitations, failing to meet the requirements of the tasks in the new situation, especially in the context of the country's deep integration. The phenomenon of press information not ensuring political, ideological and cultural criteria continues to occur with manifestations such as: not implementing information orientation, information lacking political sensitivity, not suitable for the country's interests; false and inaccurate information; unbalanced and unconstructive information, providing too much information related to negative issues, the dark side of society, being swept away and led by information on social networks, causing negative impacts on public opinion, being exploited by foreign press, electronic news sites of opposing forces to distort; sensational headlines; offensive content and images, not suitable for traditional customs. Many articles focus on entertainment, commerce, follow trivial tastes or stimulate young people to follow useless trends and neglect and underestimate the true values of life (especially on social networking sites, the Internet)..., leading to a significant number of young people lacking ideals in life, losing faith, paying little attention to the situation of the country and locality; tending to promote individualism; living a loose life, behaving violently, regardless of the law; being indifferent, apathetic, and lacking responsibility towards family, community and society.

Promoting the role of the press

Faced with the requirements and tasks of the new situation, press agencies must continue to strongly promote their role and responsibility in educating the youth about revolutionary ideals, ethics and lifestyles in order to care for, nurture and promote the highest role and strength of the youth in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. To complete the above tasks, the press needs to focus on implementing the following tasks:

First of all, through its topics, the press needs to orient young people on values, standards, directions, and goals for them to strive for and practice; develop many topics to propagate and educate revolutionary traditions, patriotism, national pride, and self-respect for young people; focus on educating young people through setting examples of advanced models, good people, and good deeds associated with studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style to promote self-discipline and self-cultivation following Uncle Ho's example in each young person.

Second, in topics related to youth, the press must pay special attention to and attach importance to improving knowledge, culture, training habits, and life skills for young people, especially the skills of self-regulation and control. Doing this well will help young people have enough confidence, courage, and methods to prevent, fight, and refute the plots, tricks, and false and distorted arguments of disgruntled, reactionary, and hostile subjects on social networking sites and the Internet.

Third, it is necessary to promote, exploit and effectively use modern media, electronic newspapers, digital television, etc. in accessing and conveying propaganda and educational content, making the posted content rich, attractive and lively, attracting more participation and interest from young people. At the same time, increase interaction, attract young people to respond, dialogue and share with the press their views on revolutionary ideals, ethics and current lifestyles.

Fourth, strengthen coordination in organizing information and propaganda activities in response to the "reading culture" movement for young people to turn the reading movement into a beautiful cultural feature of young people. Organize the compilation, publication, promotion and introduction of books and newspapers with high educational value in nurturing revolutionary ideals, souls and life values for young people.

With its increasingly deep penetration, the press has a strong and profound impact on intellectual development, the formation of a philosophy of life, a world view, and the cultivation of humanistic feelings for young people. Therefore, orienting information to have educational significance, improving multi-faceted understanding as well as contributing to the cultivation of morality, personality and promoting a healthy lifestyle for young people must become a task that needs to be regularly considered important for all press agencies./.
