On June 3, in Lao Cai, the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians Group held its third meeting. Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organizing Committee, and Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians Group chaired the meeting.
Also attending were comrade To Huy Rua, former member of the Politburo, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Head of the Central Organizing Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association; comrades of the Party Central Committee: Le Hoai Trung, Head of the Central External Relations Committee; Hoang Thi Thuy Lan, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Vinh Phuc province; Dang Xuan Phong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Lao Cai province and comrades: Nguyen Minh Vu, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Phan Anh Son, Vice President, General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations...
On the Japanese side, there were Mr. Yamada Takio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam; Mr. Yuichi Sugano, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Office in Vietnam; Mr. Yoshida Kenji, Chief Representative of the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) Office in Vietnam; Mr. Nakajima Takeo, Chief Representative of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Office in Vietnam; Mr. Hagiya Munetaka, leader of EREX Group; Mr. Kinoshita Tadahiro, General Director of Sojitzu Vietnam Company.
At the meeting, delegates heard a report on the activities of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentary Group in the first 6 months of 2023 and the direction of activities until the end of 2023, focusing on the particularly important milestone in bilateral relations, as the two countries prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1973-2023).
In the first 6 months of 2023, the activities of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians' Group have been actively and effectively implemented in many diverse and rich forms, demonstrating the uniqueness of parliamentary diplomacy, thereby promoting multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.
In the last 6 months of 2023, the activities of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentary Group will focus on celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations (1973-2023).
Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Hoang Thi Thuy Lan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Vinh Phuc province highly appreciated the results of the activities of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians Group; at the same time, affirmed that Vinh Phuc province has attracted investment interest from many Japanese enterprises such as Honda, Toyota, Sumitomo, Sojitz... Vinh Phuc also organized many investment promotion activities and cultural exchanges with Japanese localities.
Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Permanent member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organizing Committee, and Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians Group, highly appreciated the opinions presented at the meeting, demonstrating the responsibility of organizations and individuals in promoting the relationship between the two countries.
He said: “In recent times, many important cooperation mechanisms between the two countries have been established more and more substantially, bringing the extensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan to continue to develop well and effectively in many fields. In particular, Japan is the country that provides the largest ODA aid. Cooperation in agriculture and tourism continues to develop in depth. Thereby, affirming the important contributions of the ambassadors of the two countries, as well as the activities of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians Group.
He hoped that the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians Group would coordinate with relevant agencies to remove obstacles in the Vietnam-Japan University Project and develop a Japanese language training plan for officials working in foreign affairs at central agencies.
Regarding activities towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations in 2023, he believes that with coordination, sharing, community and responsibility, the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians Group will continue to promote the role and strengths of the Friendship Parliamentarians channel, actively promoting the relationship between the two countries in areas such as: Cooperation in developing trade, investment, health, education, tourism and implementing well the motto of equal partnership, looking towards the future, together reaching the world.
