This is the result of many years of efforts, promoting propaganda, raising awareness among the people to persevere in the development goal.

Planting area planning

According to statistics from the People's Committee of Vinh Cuu district, the district has formed key crop areas with 5 concentrated crops including: rice, vegetables, mango, grapefruit, citrus. Of which, the rice area reaches nearly 1,400 hectares, concentrated in the communes of Tan Binh, Binh Loi, Thien Tan, Tan An. Currently, the average yield for rice is over 6 tons/hectare. According to farmers, most of the rice varieties used for planting are certified in origin and quality by the authorities. During the cultivation process, people have mechanized the harvesting stage.

Along with rice, in the communes of Tan Binh, Binh Loi, Tri An, etc., grapefruit trees also occupy a large area with nearly 1,500 hectares. In the total grapefruit growing area, green-skin grapefruit accounts for about 68%, the rest is orange-leaf grapefruit and some other grapefruit varieties.

Chairman of Tan Binh Commune People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Quan said that farmers in Tan Binh and Binh Loi communes have long been growing clean, organic crops, while applying new science and technology, contributing to increasing the economic value of crops, including rice and grapefruit. Mr. Quan said that Tan Binh commune has built a unique grapefruit brand, which has been granted geographical indications. Up to now, the commune has coordinated and mobilized people to further improve the quality and value of fruit growing areas. Other growing areas such as the mango growing area of nearly 2,700 hectares, and the citrus growing area of over 540 hectares are also continuing to be implemented.

Up to now, Vinh Cuu district has 3 mango growing area codes for export to Australia, New Zealand and the United States with an area of 20.41 hectares/growing area code. The main growing areas concentrated in the district have been established with growing area codes, specifically: 9 domestic growing area codes for grapefruit trees, 1 domestic growing area code for mango trees, 1 domestic growing area code for vegetables.

Improve the quality of local crops

In order for people to have more knowledge in agricultural production, in recent times, training and propaganda for farmers have been focused on, contributing to improving the quality of agricultural products and the competitiveness of local agricultural products. People have paid more attention to choosing and using new, high-quality, recognized varieties with clear origins.

According to the assessment of Vinh Cuu District People's Committee, the areas where the main crops are grown have been granted area codes and have ensured technical infrastructure for electricity, roads and irrigation, ensuring good service for the production and living needs of the people in the area. The areas where the main crops are grown have collective economic organizations applying technical production processes according to VietGAP standards and are gradually moving towards organic production.

Vice Chairwoman of Vinh Cuu District People's Committee Nguyen Thi Dung said that in addition to developing growing areas, the district also supports units to form a chain linking mango production and consumption between Phu Ly Mango Cooperative and Binh Minh Agricultural Production, Trade and Service Cooperative. Mango products of Phu Ly Mango Cooperative are VietGAP certified and traceable through electronic production diary software.

In Vinh Cuu district, production linkages have helped farmers master farming techniques, initially forming collective business habits, aiming to improve product quality, produce according to standard processes to ensure food safety and stabilize product consumption. The selling price of agricultural products in the linked chains, thanks to GAP certification, farmers sell at an average of 500 VND/kg higher than the market price.

In addition, the formation of linkage chains has helped expand concentrated production areas, facilitating investment in infrastructure serving production such as building intra-field roads, renovating irrigation systems and upgrading electricity systems in the project area to ensure production conditions.
