In order to expand the space for tourism development and diversify tourism products, Khanh Hoa province's tourism industry is aiming to develop agricultural tourism in Cam Lam, including promoting tours to explore mango gardens...

Build tours to explore the land of mangoes

When it comes to Cam Lam tourism , many people immediately think of the high-class resorts in Bai Dai. However, Cam Lam also has a part of Hon Ba Nature Reserve, relics related to the life and career of Dr. A. Yersin, Thuy Trieu lagoon and immense mango gardens that can develop agricultural tourism. Cam Lam is the largest mango growing area in the South Central region with nearly 7,000 hectares. Mr. Nguyen Hoai Duc - Head of the Department of Culture - Information of Cam Lam district said that Cam Lam mango has a long history of development. There are ancient mango gardens up to 60 - 70 years old. In addition to Canh Nong mango (Western mango) that has been grown for many years, Cam Lam now also has Australian mango, Hoa Loc sand mango... People here also process many products from mango such as: dried mango, mango rice paper, mango tea, mango ice cream, mango tea. These are the conditions for developing agricultural tourism according to the province's orientation.

Currently, many travel agencies in the province have cooperated with businesses in Cam Lam to organize tours for visitors to explore the mango land of Cam Lam with destinations such as: Visiting ancient mango gardens, buying mangoes at Son Hien garden house (Lam Son village, Cam Thanh Bac commune); Anh Vuong garden house (Tan Hoa 2 residential group, Cam Duc town); enjoying mango tea at Camlamonline.com showroom (Tan Hai village, Cam Hai Tay commune); buying salted and chili dried mangoes at Cam Lam Thanh Diem dried mango production facility (Bai Gieng 2 village, Cam Hai Tay commune)... Right in Cam Lam, there are also some local businesses organizing tours for visitors to explore mango gardens such as Mango Cat Tien Travel. One of the units that regularly takes visitors to explore mango gardens in Cam Lam is Zazen Travel Tourism Company Limited. Ms. Christina Nguyen - Director of Zazen Travel Tourism Company Limited said that the company often coordinates with resorts in Bai Dai to organize tours to explore Vietnamese culture and cuisine. The company's tour guide will take guests to Cam Duc market (Cam Lam district) to explore the lives of local people and learn about the ingredients that will be used for the cooking class. Next, guests will visit Quan Am Stone Pagoda (Quan Am Thach Tu) in Cam Lam - the only pagoda decorated with cobblestones in Vietnam; visit the mango garden to listen to farmers tell stories about growing and harvesting mangoes, and enjoy a cup of unique mango tea. Finally, guests will return to the resort to learn how to cook traditional Vietnamese dishes. Many European and Australian tourists are very interested in exploring the mango garden, learning about the process of making mango rice paper and enjoying mango products.

Create highlights for rural tourism products

In the current trend of green tourism, tourists increasingly prefer tours to explore local culture and experience agriculture. The development of agricultural tourism in Cam Lam has great potential, because the distance from Nha Trang to Cam Lam is very close, and Cam Lam also has a large number of visitors from resorts in Bai Dai. Mr. Bui Minh Thang - Director of Phuong Thang Trade Tourism Service Company Limited shared: “Through a survey, mango garden discovery tourism in Cam Lam is the highest quality agricultural tourism product of Khanh Hoa. There is a historical story of the industry here, mango products are increasingly abundant, and tourist attractions have been connected into complete tours... Mango growers here have also been able to process mangoes to produce fruit out of season to serve tourists to visit and experience for a longer period of time. However, to develop into a popular tourism product, it is necessary to further upgrade the transport infrastructure to be able to use large vehicles to transport visitors, and pay attention to training human resources for on-site tourism to improve service quality”.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Director of the Department of Tourism said that, implementing the orientation of developing rural agricultural tourism, the Department of Tourism has encouraged Cam Lam to develop tourism associated with the mango region. Recently, the Department of Tourism also surveyed tourism products in Cam Lam to serve cruise ship tours arriving at Cam Ranh International Port, including tours to explore mango gardens. The tourist attractions and tours to visit mango gardens have great potential but need more investment. In the coming time, the People's Committee of Cam Lam district needs to continue to pay attention, review and evaluate all conditions and potentials of agricultural tourism types from mango gardens according to regulations. From there, guide people, households and businesses to deploy and promote agricultural tourism effectively, truly becoming a highlight of rural tourism products. To create a spread, the District People's Committee needs to coordinate with travel companies and media agencies to promote and advertise agricultural tourism spots in the district to attract domestic and foreign tourists to come here to experience and explore.
