“Red Rain” is a feature film about the revolutionary war, written by writer Chu Lai, inspired and fictionalized from the 81 days and nights of heroic and resilient fighting to protect Quang Tri Citadel in 1972.

The teaser trailer begins with the farewell scene of the rear with the young soldiers. There are no tears, no clinging, everything seems to be understood, every small separation is towards a great reunion for the whole country.

The image of soldiers with dirty faces but smiling brightly looking at the little bird affectionately gives the audience hope for their strong vitality, and that of the nation before the war. This is not only a film about a fierce war, but also a tragic story about a march of hope to unification and freedom.

Along with the teaser trailer is the teaser poster. Although it depicts a battlefield full of smoke and fire, the bright eyes and resolute faces of the soldiers still radiate determination and belief in a happy ending to the war.

Entering the Citadel battlefield, a flare flashed up, a look up at the pitch-black sky, the regretful tone of the character Ta (Phuong Nam) about the promising future of the comrades he had just met, and those submerged in the waters of the Thach Han River remind us of the most difficult and fierce challenges that still lie ahead.

Director Dang Thai Huyen shared: “I want the audience to not only see this war with their eyes, but also feel it with their hearts. This is a film in which each character is built with deep gratitude for the generation that sacrificed for peace today.”

Production director Kieu Thanh Thuy was also moved: “We have put all our efforts into recreating the fierce yet emotional battlefield atmosphere. This is a film that requires a very high commitment from the entire crew, not only in terms of technique, but also in terms of emotion and responsibility to history.”

At the end of the teaser, the soldiers sang together: “Go, go, go to preserve the mountains and rivers – Go, go, go, rather die than retreat”. The young soldiers with a bright future, putting aside all plans and dreams to enter the most difficult battlefield at that time, kept their oath “to die for the Fatherland, to live”, and preserved the Citadel to the last life.

Actor Hua Vi Van shared: “Each scene is like a journey back to the roots. Amidst the simulated fire and smoke, I truly felt the life-and-death atmosphere that my fathers and brothers experienced. It was a sacred cinematic experience.”

Red Rain premieres August 22, 2025.
