On behalf of the city leaders, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong emphasized that this year's Vesak celebration takes place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, and the Vesak celebration is held in Vietnam along with the country's dramatic changes. These important events of the country signal peace, bringing joy not only to Buddhists and monks, but also to all Vietnamese people and the capital Hanoi.
Comrade Nguyen Van Phong summarized the socio-economic development of Hanoi in recent times, especially in the first 4 months of this year. Under the leadership of the Party Central Committee, the Party Committee, government and people of the capital have made great efforts and achieved many important results. In addition to implementing major policies and decisions of the Party and State such as streamlining the apparatus of the political system, the capital's socio-economic situation continues to develop strongly, reaching important milestones.
In the first 4 months of the year, Hanoi city's state budget revenue reached 69% of the plan for 2025. In absolute numbers, the whole country collected nearly 1 million billion VND, of which Hanoi collected more than 300 thousand billion VND, contributing about 30% of the country's budget revenue. Social life areas were ensured, security and defense were maintained. Cultural and social activities continued to achieve many important results, in which religious activities always received special attention from the city.
According to Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong, among the common achievements of the capital city of Hanoi, there are important contributions from Buddhists and monks in the capital. Notably, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Hanoi, together with the Party Committee and local authorities, has encouraged, guided and propagated for the people of the capital and Buddhists to comply with the policies of the Party, State and city; at the same time, contributing to promoting the cultural and historical values of the locality, helping to improve the material and spiritual life of the people of the capital.

On this occasion, on behalf of the leaders of Hanoi city, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong sent to Most Venerable Thich Bao Nghiem and other monks, nuns, senior monks, nuns, and Buddhists a peaceful and auspicious Buddha's birthday and continued achievement in Buddhist work as well as increasingly important contributions to the overall development of the capital.
Most Venerable Thich Bao Nghiem sincerely thanked the sentiments of the leaders of Hanoi city; at the same time, he affirmed that he will continue to encourage monks, nuns, and Buddhists to strictly follow the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and the teachings of Buddhism, contributing to building the capital and the whole country to be prosperous and developed.
