Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Dang Xuan Phuong works with the Standing Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor

On the morning of August 21, comrade Dang Xuan Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, had a working session with the Standing Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor (FFL) on improving the quality and effectiveness of implementing democracy at the grassroots level; promoting the role of trade union organizations in developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions, developing grassroots party organizations in industrial parks, industrial clusters, and private economic units in the province.

Comrade Dang Xuan Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation chaired the meeting.

Currently, the Provincial Federation of Labor manages over 129,400 union members, belonging to 18 direct superior unions, 2,236 grassroots unions. In addition, the Provincial Federation of Labor coordinates and directs 130 grassroots unions with 150,000 union members belonging to the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Union, central industry unions, and general corporation unions.

In recent times, the provincial Trade Unions at all levels have proactively implemented the contents of the grassroots democracy regulations. Right from the beginning of the year, the Provincial Federation of Labor assigned targets related to the implementation of grassroots democracy mechanisms to units. At the same time, it guided and directed the Trade Unions at all levels to coordinate with the authorities and professional bodies to organize conferences for cadres, civil servants and public employees in accordance with the provisions of the Law on implementing democracy at the grassroots level; directed the Trade Unions at all levels to coordinate with employers to organize Labor Conferences and Dialogue Conferences at the workplace.

The activities of grassroots trade unions have been gradually improved and put into order; the role of representing workers in proposing and implementing collective labor agreements, labor protection regimes, improving working conditions, building regulations on wages, bonuses, labor safety and hygiene regulations, etc. The work of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions has been promoted. In the first 6 months of 2024, the whole province established 41 grassroots trade unions; admitted over 7,600 union members.

The work of developing party members in industrial parks, industrial clusters, and private economic units has been seriously implemented according to the motto "Where there are workers and laborers, there are party members". From 2020 to now, in units and enterprises with trade union organizations, over 8,400 new party members have been admitted.

Concluding the working session, comrade Dang Xuan Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation acknowledged and highly appreciated the leadership role of the Provincial Federation of Labor Standing Committee as well as the role of trade unions at all levels in the province in effectively performing the work of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers; and grasping the ideological situation of union members and workers.

He requested the Provincial Federation of Labor to coordinate with relevant sectors to research and propose strategies on population development and labor attraction to ensure the development requirements of Quang Ninh province in the new period.

In addition, it is necessary to actively innovate trade union activities; promote propaganda and mobilize union members, establish grassroots trade unions in enterprises; pay attention to the work of building a team of trade union officials, ensuring sufficient quantity, quality, capacity, and meeting task requirements.
