Gen Z Vice Principal “Opens Experience, Opens the Future” at FPT Schools

(Dan Tri) - Mr. Quach Duc Manh (born in 1997) joined FPT Hai Phong Secondary and High School when the school was first established. From here, the Gen Z teacher laid a solid foundation in terms of expertise, operations, and creating experiences for students and teachers.

Take on the challenge

Before coming to FPT School Hai Phong, Mr. Quach Duc Manh worked at a school in Hanoi. In April 2022, he decided to return to settle down and stay long-term in the land where he was born and raised. By chance, he saw FPT Schools' recruitment information for the new school in Hai Phong and applied immediately. "I like new challenges," he said.

As soon as he took the job, Mr. Manh was assigned to represent the school to present a paper at the national professional conference of FPT Group'seducation sector. After only 16 hours of preparation, Manh had a presentation in front of hundreds of attendees. That moment was like a flash of light in Manh's mind, making him feel excited and elated with his choice. "This place is interesting, many opportunities to try out", Manh thought at that time.

Joining FPT School Hai Phong at a time when everything was almost nothing, the Gen Z teacher faced many challenges. As the head of the professional group, he started building the system, from teaching to operations. Overcoming many challenges, Mr. Manh became the youngest Vice Principal of the FPT General System at the age of 27.

Being a leader when many colleagues and parents are older than you is not easy. But for him, the special advantage of a Gen Z manager is the ability to understand young teachers, accompany students with the same language, thinking and needs. It is this empathy that has helped him gradually build a strong team, where everyone "rolls up" to move the young school forward.

Diversify student experiences

From his own experiences, Mr. Manh deeply understands the value of breaking out of his comfort zone. From a shy, good student in high school, Duc Manh joined a cheerleading group even though he couldn’t dance. “Without those experiences, I probably wouldn’t be the person I am today,” Manh said.

Later, as a manager, Mr. Manh continuously organized activities for students, from practical experiential learning to emotional volunteer trips. He also advised students to form clubs based on their interests and initiated playgrounds for students to develop their potential. During the orientation week to welcome the second batch of students, the “F-Gen Revolution” project built by Mr. Manh and his team helped students explore their leadership and team building abilities.

The young vice principal affirmed: “Learning through experience activates the process of personal knowledge creation, helping students develop independent thinking and systematic thinking. Moreover, students learn to face reality, from success to failure, thereby forming perseverance, responsibility, and compassion. Especially in a volatile world, the ability to adapt and learn throughout life must be formed through experience.”

Empowerment, empathy, companionship

Not only understanding and accompanying students, the Gen Z teacher also pays special attention to new teachers joining FPT. Because according to him, "collective intelligence" - or cultural cohesion is the "weapon" that creates a strong and systematic FPT Schools as it is today.

Extracurricular activities, outings, and opportunities to propose initiatives help new teachers understand the value of the system as well as unleash their creativity. He explains: “Each staff member is a special piece that makes up a solid, strong school. The culture of respecting individuals at FPT is a wonderful thing, encouraging everyone to share ideas and participate in projects. Cohesion is the core of helping the team transform strongly.”

Manh realized that the biggest thing that helped him grow in the system was the ability to understand and develop people. “Only when connected by listening and empathy, can the team accompany each other for a long time, overcoming all challenges. Even if we stumble, we are still confident because we know that there will be teammates to “back us up”, to stand up and firmly continue on the chosen journey,” he said.

Sharing the secret of a Gen Z education leader, Mr. Manh said: “Leadership is not just about walking alone, but the journey of lifting others up. FPT Schools is where every talented young person has the opportunity to pioneer in creating the future of education.”
