Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung inspects key projects in Quang Tri

The delegation started the program at Quang Tri Industrial Park (QTIP), a project approved by the Prime Minister on March 23, 2021. The project is implemented by a joint venture of three investors including Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park Company Limited (VSIP JV), Amata Bien Hoa Urban Joint Stock Company (Thailand) and Sumitomo Group (Japan), with a scale of 481.2 hectares and a total investment of more than VND 2,074 billion, implemented in three phases from 2021 to 2032.

Up to now, the project has basically completed investment procedures, site clearance and land lease procedures for phase 1; the Provincial People's Committee has leased land in four phases with a total area of 96.05 hectares. After the groundbreaking ceremony on December 15, 2023, the investor is implementing the construction of items such as leveling the wastewater treatment area, leveling industrial land lots, internal traffic roads, rainwater drainage, wastewater drainage and water supply systems.

Next, the working group inspected the My Thuy Port Construction Investment Project - one of the driving forces of Quang Tri province. The project was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 16/QD-TTg dated January 4, 2019, including 10 wharves with the capacity to receive ships of up to 100,000 tons; invested by My Thuy International Joint Stock Company.

The project is being implemented in three phases with a total investment of over VND9,200 billion. Quang Tri province has handed over 133 hectares of land for phase 1 and is continuing to hand over an additional 37 hectares. The investor has completed 300 meters of breakwater; construction of berths 1 and 2 has reached about 65%. It is expected that berths 3 and 4 will start construction in September 2025 and be completed in November 2026.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung highly appreciated the progress of the project and emphasized the strategic importance of My Thuy International Port for the development of the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone and the North Central region. The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Provincial People's Committee and investors to focus resources, speed up the progress, ensure the quality of the project and construction safety; at the same time, promote the attraction of secondary projects to the Southeast Economic Zone to create a stable source of goods for the port when it is put into operation.

The working group also inspected Component Project 2 - airport construction, part of the Quang Tri Airport Project under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The project meets the standards of a level 4C airport, capable of handling code E aircraft and irregular international flights; and is also a level II military airport, with a designed capacity of 5 million passengers/year.

The project has a total area of 265 hectares, of which the local public investment capital is 233 billion VND. Quang Tri province has completed the clearance of 239 hectares; the remaining area of 25.9 hectares does not affect the construction progress and is expected to be completed in 2025. Since the commencement of construction on July 6, 2024, the investor has implemented the construction items under the BOT contract, ensuring the progress of completing the phase before 2026.

On the same day, the Deputy Prime Minister inspected the Van Ninh - Cam Lo Component Project, part of the North - South Eastern Expressway Project for the 2021-2025 period. The project has completed 100% of the main route site clearance, relocated all technical infrastructure works, arranged resettlement for 454 households and relocated 788 graves. The main route has been basically completed and put into operation since August 19, 2025. The province is directing the handling of newly arising frontage road areas.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung visited village 9, Dien Sanh commune to visit and encourage some households in difficult circumstances. Listening to people's reports about the flooding situation, the Deputy Prime Minister asked the local authorities to develop a plan to support boats, ships and generators to proactively respond in case of being isolated due to floods, ensuring people's safety.
