On November 15, the University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) held a ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Faculty of Environment. Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh attended the ceremony.

The ceremony is an opportunity for the School and generations of students to review the journey of building the Faculty from the early days with many difficulties until it became one of the leading prestigious training and research units in the country on environment, resources and public health.
"The cradle" providing high quality human resources
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Manh Cuong - Vice Principal of the University of Natural Sciences, after 30 years from its initial foundation, the Faculty has developed into a strong unit of the University. In terms of structure, the Faculty has formed 7 specialized departments, along with a system of leading research facilities. Especially 2 key laboratories at the level of Hanoi National University, along with 7 modern specialized laboratories.
Regarding training, the Faculty has affirmed its role as a "cradle" providing high-quality human resources with diverse and broad training programs from Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering Technology to Food Science and Technology.
The Faculty's contributions have been recognized by the Party, State and Government with special noble awards: First Class Labor Medal, Second Class Labor Medal, Third Class Labor Medal, Emulation Flag and Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister... along with many Certificates of Merit and Emulation Flags from Ministries, branches and Hanoi National University.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Manh Cuong sent the Faculty of Environment 4 key messages in the coming period. First, continue to innovate thinking, be ready to pioneer research, and take the lead in key directions that science has identified, such as Treatment and Recycling Technology, Toxicology and Environmental Health, Smart Monitoring and Circular Economy.
Second, strengthen interdisciplinary - linkage, become an important core in the ecosystem of environmental science - food safety - climate change - big data of the University of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; at the same time, continue to promote the strength of extensive international cooperation with strategic partners in Japan, Korea, Germany, France, the United States, Australia and many other countries.
Third, pioneering in digital transformation, especially in the application of smart monitoring, environmental forecasting and developing green technologies.
Fourth, preserve and promote identity, which is the tradition of solidarity, proactively cultivating the culture of a unit rich in intelligence, humanity and always serving for the benefit of the community.
Affirming the pioneering role in environmental training and research
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Khai - Head of the Faculty of Environment, emotionally shared about the journey of building and growing the Faculty over the past 30 years. He said that today's success is the result of the persistent dedication of many generations: leaders of Hanoi National University and the School; teachers through the periods; staff, lecturers, researchers; and a network of domestic and foreign partners.
He emphasized some outstanding highlights such as the modern laboratory system that has been continuously invested and upgraded, serving in-depth research on the environment, food, public health and chemical safety.

At the same time, the international cooperation network is expanded through Erasmus+ programs, projects with Europe, the United States, Japan, and Korea. In addition, training programs meet quality standards, many of which are AUN-QA accredited.
According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Khai, in the period of 2025-2035, in training and research, the Faculty aims to focus on green economy, circular economy, digital technology, meeting domestic and international standards, affirming its position as a pioneer in environmental training and research.

At the ceremony, Ms. Pham Thi Bich Ngoc (POP Project Manager, Department of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) - class monitor of MTK39A - expressed her honor to represent the generations of alumni in general and the first class of MTK39A in particular to speak. Ms. Ngoc shared: "30 years is long enough for the first "seeds" to become sturdy trees. The Faculty is where our careers begin, and also where our ideals, beliefs and responsibilities towards the environment and the community are sown."
Ms. Pham Thi Bich Ngoc sent her deep gratitude to generations of teachers, expressing her pride in growing up in the Faculty of Environment. She also shared that no matter where she is, in any position, she will always remember her school and her beloved teachers.
