Coordinate with Vinh Phuc province to fix the problem of ships and barges stuck under Vinh Phu bridge

On September 10, after a ship and barge drifted along the water and got stuck under Vinh Phu bridge, comrade Bui Minh Chau - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation went to the scene, coordinated with the leaders of Vinh Phuc province to direct the work of overcoming the incident to ensure safety for Vinh Phu bridge.

Provincial Party Secretary Bui Minh Chau directly directed functional forces to coordinate with Vinh Phuc province to quickly fix the problem.

Up to now, 1 barge and 6 ships have drifted with the current and are stuck under Vinh Phu bridge. The water level of Lo river is constantly rising. As of 12:00 on September 10, the water level on Lo river (at Vu Quang station, Doan Hung) has reached 19.5m, above alert level II. The strong current makes it difficult to carry out troubleshooting work.

Provincial Party Secretary Bui Minh Chau listened to the Department of Transport discuss solutions to overcome the problem.

Provincial Party Secretary Bui Minh Chau requested the Department of Transport, the Provincial Police, and businesses with stranded ships to closely coordinate with Vinh Phuc Province to carefully study the situation and come up with an optimal solution with the highest goal of ensuring the safety of Vinh Phu Bridge and the lives and property of the people. The Provincial Police force dispatched forces to block the bridge 24/7, put up warning signs, stretched ropes, and did not allow people or vehicles to pass through the bridge while the problem was being fixed.

Vinh Phu Bridge is a new bridge that was inaugurated and put into use from August 2023. This is a bridge spanning the Lo River, connecting the two provinces of Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho . Vinh Phu Bridge has a total investment of more than 540 billion VND.

Vinh Phu Bridge belongs to Group B project, designed with a length of over 509m, of which the main bridge is about 290m long, the approach bridge on Phu Tho province side is 70.75m long, the approach bridge on Vinh Phuc province side is about 148.8m long. The bridge is designed with 4 lanes for motor vehicles, the main bridge width is 19m, the approach bridge width is 16.5m.
