| Delegates heard a report on the features and applications of the EIOS tool. |
In the context of increasingly complex emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, improving the capacity to detect early and respond promptly to public health events has become an urgent requirement. The EIOS system - a global initiative of WHO, is considered an effective support tool for event-based surveillance. Accordingly, the EIOS system helps to synthesize, screen and analyze data, thereby recording warning signs, helping health agencies quickly detect, verify and respond promptly to the risks of disease outbreaks, contributing to improving early warning capacity. At the same time, the system helps to evaluate whether the implemented activities are effective or not. Currently, with technical support from WHO, Nha Trang Pasteur Institute is one of the pioneers in applying and operating the EIOS system in the Central region, contributing to providing fast and accurate information for directing, monitoring and responding to epidemics.
