Huong Son Power Company supplies electricity to more than 39,000 customers throughout the district. Managing a large volume of power lines, a large area, running through Cau Treo International Border Gate Economic Zone and border communes with complex terrain and dense vegetation, Huong Son Power Company's grid renovation work faces many difficulties.
In particular, for many years, Huong Son has been a locality where people often fly kites around the power grid in the summer, posing a potential safety risk, possibly disrupting the power supply, causing fires and explosions, and damaging many electrical equipment, especially in the summer. In 2024 alone, in Huong Son district, there were 15 violations of the power grid corridor caused by kite flying, of which 5 cases caused widespread power outages directly affecting about 8,000 households.
According to Deputy Director of Huong Son Electricity Pham Viet Hung, fixing and handling these incidents is very costly, taking about 1 - 1.5 hours, causing heavy damage to production and business establishments.
Entering the hot season this year, Huong Son Power Company has issued documents, advising the People's Committee of Huong Son district to strictly direct localities to do a good job of propaganda to ensure safety at transformer stations and transmission lines; organize households to sign a commitment to ensure safety for electrical equipment, not to repeat kite flying in areas adjacent to the power grid corridor. Along with that, mobilize human resources, organize a general inspection, review the entire system to promptly detect and handle existing problems and defects on the power grid.
In particular, the unit also inspected and replaced long-term operating transformers; upgraded the cross-section of conductors, replaced materials and equipment that do not ensure operation... to avoid the risk of incidents when the load suddenly increases. Since the beginning of the year, Huong Son Power has rotated 25 overloaded transformers; periodically replaced over 500 meters. It is expected that by early May, the rotation of all 48 overloaded transformers and the periodic replacement of 654 meters will be completed. At the same time, Huong Son Power invested in installing 5 more transformer stations in the communes: Son Trung, My Long, Kim Hoa and Son Tien (2 stations).
Identifying electricity saving as one of the practical solutions, contributing to ensuring safe and stable electricity supply, especially during the hot season, Huong Son Electricity cooperates with the district's functional departments, the authorities of 22 communes and towns to promote propaganda activities, instruct and disseminate knowledge and skills on safe, economical and effective use of electricity to customers.
At the same time, launch the emulation movement "Family saves electricity" to all employees and customers; coordinate with the Department of Economic Infrastructure and Urban Areas, the Department of Education and Training of the district to organize the program "Schools join hands to save electricity"; contest "Learning knowledge about using energy economically and effectively in schools" at schools in the area...
Mr. Phan Van Doai - Chairman of Kim Hoa Commune People's Committee said: "In previous years, local people caused electrical incidents when flying kites in the summer. Before this year's hot season, Kim Hoa Commune organized many propaganda campaigns on the commune's radio system and integrated them into local meetings to remind people to use electricity safely; strictly prohibit flying kites around the power grid; raise awareness of electricity saving among the people... At the same time, direct the commune police force to strengthen inspection, detection and prevention of unsafe situations of the power grid and flying kites around the power grid".
Mr. Nguyen Hong Tan - Director of Huong Son Power Company said: In the coming time, the unit will organize a simultaneous campaign, mobilizing all forces to coordinate with the local government of Son Kim 1 commune to clear trees in the power grid corridor in the area, especially from Ha Trai village, Son Kim 1 commune to Cau Treo international border gate with a length of nearly 30km. At the same time, coordinate with contractors to speed up the construction progress. 35kV loop circuit renovation project between DZ 377 E18.7 Huong Son and DZ 372 E18.2 Duc Tho to improve power supply reliability. The project is expected to be completed by the end of June.
Synchronous and drastic solutions based on the "prevention is the key" viewpoint are the way for Huong Son Power Company to resolve and prevent electrical incidents in order to minimize the damage caused by incidents that may occur during the hot season.
