Quang Ninh women spread good values in the community

In all localities, it is easy to see the image of women silently and persistently contributing to the development of their homeland. From the movements of “Women actively studying, working creatively, building happy families”, to environmental protection programs, livelihood support, caring for disadvantaged children, etc., Quang Ninh women have been creating positive changes in the community.

One of the typical images is Ms. Do Thuy Linh (born in 1993), owner of a handicraft workshop in Thuong Yen Cong commune, Uong Bi city. With the desire to create jobs and stable income for disadvantaged women, especially the elderly Dao Thanh Y, Ms. Linh has built a knitting and crocheting facility with about 40 workers, many of whom have special circumstances. Despite their physical disabilities, they still work hard to create vivid products such as stuffed animals, ao dai dolls holding the national flag... which are widely consumed in famous tourist destinations such as Hoi An and Nha Trang. Each month, the workshop produces about 1,500 products, bringing in a stable income of 4-5 million VND/month for the women.

Not only bringing material value, Ms. Linh's actions also strongly inspire, affirming that when given opportunities, disadvantaged women can confidently rise up and contribute to the common development. Ms. Linh's story is a vivid demonstration of the spirit of solidarity, responsibility and sharing of women in Quang Ninh today.

That humanitarian spirit is also clearly demonstrated through the "Godmother" program launched by the Provincial Women's Union since 2021. With the motto "Where there are orphans, there are godmothers", the program has mobilized the cooperation of the whole community, providing a solid support for hundreds of children in difficult circumstances in the province.

In Ha Long City, 51 orphans are being sponsored with support ranging from 200,000 VND to 1 million VND/month. In addition, they are also cared for spiritually, instructed in life skills, and integrated into the community. In mountainous districts such as Tien Yen and Ba Che, where many ethnic minority women and children live, the "Godmother" program continues to spread strongly. The support of Women's Unions at all levels has helped many children in special circumstances accesseducation , health care, and opportunities for comprehensive development.

Along with that, the Provincial Women's Union at all levels has also actively implemented many health care activities, raising awareness for women and children. Many good and meaningful programs and models have been organized such as: "Knowledge of Mothers - Health of Children" Contest, Child Care Club... have attracted a large number of ethnic minority women to participate. Through the models, women are shared knowledge about nutrition, scientific ways to care for children, thereby contributing to improving the stature and physical strength of children in the highlands.

Not only taking care of social security, Quang Ninh women are also at the forefront of environmental protection and building a civilized lifestyle. In Ha Long City, over the past 5 years, nearly 30,000 members have participated in models such as "Reviving plastic waste" and "Green Saturday", contributing to building a clean and livable city. More than 50,000 recycled products from plastic waste have been created, not only contributing to reducing pollution but also creating additional income for more than 100 female members.

It can be said that the practical and humane actions of Quang Ninh women are contributing to creating the image of modern women: Confident, affectionate and responsible to the community.
