From early morning, hundreds of monks, nuns, Buddhists, and volunteers lit fires to prepare delicious meals at one location at Nha Trang University (No. 2 Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Bac Nha Trang Ward), and two locations at the headquarters of the Dien Dien Commune Party Committee ( Khanh Hoa Province).
According to Venerable Thich Thanh Phong, Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and Abbot of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda in Ho Chi Minh City, every day the free kitchens will cook from 10,000 to 15,000 portions of rice and deliver them to people in heavily flooded areas in Khanh Hoa province until their lives and activities stabilize.
This is a Free Meal Program given to people in the flood-hit areas of the Central region by the Social Charity Board, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and localities of Khanh Hoa province. All food and provisions are sponsored by monks, nuns, Buddhists of pagodas, monasteries and benefactors in Ho Chi Minh City.
Food processing and cooking at field kitchens are carried out by monks, Buddhists, and volunteers from Ho Chi Minh City and on-site; local authorities and military forces are responsible for transporting and delivering food to people at landslide and flood sites.
