Kinh Bac Ward mobilizes human resources and materials to prepare to respond to storm No. 3

BAC NINH - Kinh Bac Ward has 13.5 km of dikes, including 9.5 km of level II dike on the right bank of Song Cau and 4 km of dike on the left bank of Dau Han and Qua Cam. Proactively responding to storm No. 3, along with assigning specific tasks to members of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and preparing materials, the Ward People's Committee deployed a plan to mobilize shock, mobile, embankment, and express forces consisting of 144 people.

To proactively handle incidents from the first hour, the Ward's Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue has prepared and gathered all kinds of supplies and backup equipment at guard posts and key points, including: 700 m3 of boulders, sand, gravel; 10,000 sacks; 200 hoes, shovels; 300 bamboo trees; 500 m2 of tarpaulins, ropes... At the same time, contracts have been signed with owners of vehicles, motor vehicles, and boats to mobilize when there is a situation.

Workers of Bac Ninh Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Joint Stock Company are on duty to prevent and fight storm No. 3.

The Ward People's Committee directed the Bac Ninh Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Joint Stock Company to increase workers on duty at urban drainage pumping stations, organize dredging of sewers and surface water sluice gates, improve drainage capacity, prevent and combat local flooding in urban areas. Requested the Bac Ninh Irrigation Works Exploitation Enterprise to proactively pump and drain buffer water, dredge intra-field canals, and operate promptly when heavy rains cause flooding of agricultural production in the ward.

It is known that with a long dike system, many weak points, landslides, and a lower dike elevation than the flood protection design, during storm No. 3 ( Yagi ) in September 2024, in Kinh Bac ward, there were a number of dike overflow incidents, requiring dozens of households to be evacuated to safe shelters. Previously, in 2023, at the Van Phuc embankment, there was a landslide and subsidence of the right bank of the Cau River, causing 15 houses to collapse.
