Phuong My Chi sings the reformed opera "Tieng Trong Me Linh" which surprises To Huu Bang.

On the evening of July 11, the first semi-final episode of Sing! Asia - Shanghai station aired. Phuong My Chi and Kha Lau were paired up to compete with 4 other pairs of contestants. They ranked 3/5 and entered the next round.

Phuong My Chi and Kha Lau's performance is a mashup of two songs, Tuy Am and Luc Hai Vi Vuong.

Vietnamese reformed opera and Chinese opera on the same stage

Regarding the performance, Phuong My Chi wrote on her personal page: "For the first time, I brought Vietnamese reformed opera and Chinese opera to the international stage. Two separate cultures but shining together. I am truly happy and proud to be part of this combination."

According to the introduction of Phuong My Chi's crew, the story of two female generals from two cultures is told through music , bearing the strong imprint of Vietnam and China. In particular, Phuong My Chi sings Luc Hai Vi Vuong with heroic Vietnamese lyrics.

In the middle of the performance, Phuong My Chi also inserted a reformed opera passage from the play "Tieng Trong Me Linh" : "But alas, the desire to wander has not yet been satisfied, and the path between life and death is cold and covered with clouds of sadness."

The DTAP production team wrote: "As those who directly participated in creating and producing the music for the performance, DTAP is extremely moved that this mashup has achieved worthy results, bringing Phuong My Chi and Kha Lau officially into the Semi-finals 2 of Sing! Asia.

Mashup is a blend of unique cultural features, carrying the spirit of connection and honoring the diversity of nations."

While watching the two powerful voices in this mashup, judge To Huu Bang repeatedly expressed his excitement and amazement at the combination of the two art forms.

Talented and patriotic, Phuong My Chi causes a stir

Just over an hour after being posted on the evening of July 11, Phuong My Chi's performance video on YouTube channel reached nearly 200,000 views.

From the surprise of her competing in both Sing! Asia and Em xinh say hi , Vietnamese audiences have been waiting for each episode that Phuong My Chi appears to cheer her on. Each performance of Phuong My Chi receives many encouraging comments from hundreds of viewers.

Another audience member commented that the performances "Drunken Sound" and "Luc Hai Vi Vuong" were not only a mashup but also "a cultural and artistic dialogue between two countries".
