The film "Gio ngang khoa khoi xanh" has attracted attention before it airs thanks to its cast of promising young faces. In particular, the film marks the return of Phuong Oanh after 4 years of taking a break from acting to get married, have children and start a business.
On this occasion, Phuong Oanh shared with reporters of VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper about her passion for acting and revealed interesting things about her marriage with businessman Nguyen Hoa Binh (Shark Binh).
Passion for acting always burning
- Phuong Oanh has stopped acting for 4 years since her role in "Taste of Love." What brought you back to the small screen?
Actress Phuong Oanh: I stopped acting for a few years to focus on taking care of my family. When I had more time, my health improved, and the opportunity came, I decided to accept it. The passion for acting has always burned within me, I just waited for the right opportunity and conditions to act again.
When I read the script, I really liked the role of My Anh, a mature, married woman who has many similarities with me. With My Anh, it can be said that it was the right person, the right time, so there was no reason for me to refuse.
- Playing a role that has many similarities to you, I'm sure you don't have any difficulty?
Actress Phuong Oanh: At first, I thought that such a familiar role would not be difficult for me, but when performing, director Le Do Ngoc Linh always had to remind me that this was My Anh, not Phuong Oanh. There were situations where I reacted one way but the character would react another way, which made it difficult for me.
Phuong Oanh and My Anh both have similar circumstances such as being married, having young children, being perfectionists, and liking to take on many tasks. At the present time, transforming into a wife and mother is not too far-fetched, but the difficulty is to express My Anh's demeanor.
The stories in the film made me feel pain and think from the time I read the script, finished acting, until I got home. Sometimes it took me a long time to get out of character. I cried in some scenes, including the scene where My Anh was heartbroken when she learned that her son was being bullied and isolated at school. That situation made my heart suffocate as a mother. While filming, my mood was extremely heavy. I asked myself: "If my son really falls into that situation in the future, what should I do?"
Compared to previous roles, My Anh's character is not overwhelmed by many storms of life but faces invisible psychological pressure. My problem is how to portray her in a way that is close to and touches the audience's hearts. In addition, I have to separate between on screen and in real life. My Anh has a similar appearance and many personality traits to me. Sometimes, I get confused and put too much of my "ego" into the role.
My Anh is always gentle and calm when facing every situation, she is also the model I am aiming for.
- What do you think is the meaningful message of this movie?
Actress Phuong Oanh: Movie Exploiting the hidden corners of the psychology and life of women in their 30s. My Anh and her two close friends have faced different challenges in marriage, career and love. Through the way they choose their "turn" in life, the audience will see that life's events are the threshold for us to enter a new journey, stronger, shining in our own way.
- With this film, you continue to act as a married couple with Doan Quoc Dam, before that was "Silent in the Deep" and then "Quynh Doll." Is Shark Binh comfortable with his wife going back to acting?
Actress Phuong Oanh: Mr. Binh always supported me in pursuing my passion. He did not hesitate when I had kissing scenes or love scenes with my colleagues. He said that the acting had to be realistic, bland was not allowed, but then asked, "So, are there any hot scenes in the movie?" I laughed because it turned out that he also cared about his wife acting in hot scenes. I answered no, there are no hot scenes in family dramas.
'My husband and I are fans of each other'
- You still maintain taking care of your family, doing business and regularly appearing on social networks with cooking clips. How did you arrange your time when you accepted to participate in this movie?
Actress Phuong Oanh: For the past two months, I have been getting used to a busy lifestyle.
Early in the morning, I leave the house at 7am, when my two children are still awake. Many days, when I finish work, the children have already gone to bed. Sometimes the children are also sulky and do not cling to me like usual. In the past, my husband and I agreed that the weekend is the time for the whole family to gather, but now I have no days off. Sometimes, I blame myself and wonder if I am too greedy, wanting to have a career and time with my family at the same time.
My husband encourages, supports and motivates me greatly. These past few days, he has been working hard to take care of our children. On set, I was moved when I watched the camera and saw him comforting the two little ones. That is a priceless source of spiritual strength.
Mr. Binh is a workaholic, often holding his phone to manage and handle many things. When playing with the children, I want him to try to put his phone down and focus on spending all his quality time with them. My husband respects this but is still very "workaholic." One time, he held the child in one hand and secretly opened his phone with the other hand to read messages. Seeing him like that made me laugh. In return, he is quite good at taking care of the children, knowing how to make milk, feed them, and lull them to sleep. The two children are more attached to their father than their mother, and like to show off and demonstrate many skills with their father.
- After two years of marriage, what do you think binds you and your husband together?
Actress Phuong Oanh: You could say he is my fan. He often plays the movies I acted in over and over again while eating. His favorite roles are Phuong Nam ( “The Taste of Love” ) and Quynh Doll. This time, he is excited and nervous when I return to the screen.
On the contrary, I also idolize my husband. Therefore, we always find something new in each other. I like to watch him in presentations, when he comes to work at the company. At that time, he is mature and decisive, completely different from the friendly and humorous image in the family. At home, he is playful, carefree and even a bit "annoying."
I think life is like a movie, and we decide which role to play. I'm lucky to have always played the main character, so even if I "play", I'm a good person. I often tease my husband: "You married Phuong Oanh, but in reality, you've got a few girls." Today, I might have a bit of Phuong Nam's personality ( "The Taste of Love" ), and the next day I might be a bit like Uyen ( "The Girl from Someone Else's House" ).
- How do you think the experience of being a wife and mother has changed you?
Actress Phuong Oanh: Before I got married, I was like Phuong Nam, somewhat impulsive, open-minded, and outspoken. That impulsiveness led to many incidents.
I feel that the current Phuong Oanh is very different from the past, slow and calm. I have not changed completely but only aim for a better, more mature and profound version. When faced with compliments and criticisms, I calm down, regulate my mood to accept them. When I have enough experience in life, I realize that the most precious thing is peace.
Regarding gossip, if Phuong Oanh used to be more stubborn to argue and prove herself, now I will be more calm and restrained. I will speak up if I feel I have a responsibility to explain to the audience, as an influential person, because fake information is currently rampant on social networks. I speak up because of the responsibility, not to prove anything.

Phuong Oanh was born in 1989. She is known through a series of films such as "Against the flow of tears," "Silent under the deep abyss," "Quynh doll," "Huong vi tinh than." In June 2023, Phuong Oanh and Shark Binh confirmed that they had completed the marriage procedures. In July of the same year, the couple held an engagement ceremony and in May 2024, she gave birth to two babies, Jimmy and Jenny. After getting married, Phuong Oanh spent a lot of time taking care of her family.
