An important political event for women in the capital is about to take place.

The 17th Hanoi Women's Congress will take place on November 20 and 21. Accordingly, the preparatory session will take place on the afternoon of November 20, the official session will be held from 7:30 am on November 21.

Speaking at the meeting, Permanent Vice President of the Hanoi Women's Union Pham Thi Thanh Huong said that in the period of 2021-2025, the women's movement and the Union's activities have many new developments, affirming the core role in gathering, mobilizing and encouraging women in the capital to contribute their talents and creativity to the common development of the capital and the country. Each success of the Union always has the close and timely accompaniment, support and cooperation of news agencies and newspapers.

"After the success of the grassroots women's congress, at this time, the city's women's union is urgently preparing the content and necessary conditions for organizing the 17th Hanoi women's congress. The congress was chosen by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union as a model for non-merged provinces and cities," Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Huong informed.

With the central theme: "Promoting the thousand-year tradition of civilization, heroism, solidarity, intelligence, and aspiration of Hanoi women to rise up in the new era, building a strong Women's Union; contributing to promoting gender equality; developing a civilized, modern, and happy Capital", the Congress will focus on implementing 4 tasks:

(1) Evaluate the achievements of the women's movement and the results of implementing the Resolution of the 16th City Women's Congress

(2) Determine goals, tasks and operational solutions for the 2025-2030 term

(3) Discuss and contribute opinions to the draft documents of the 14th National Women's Congress and the Charter of the Vietnam Women's Union (supplements and amendments)

(4) Elect the Executive Committee of the Hanoi Women's Union, 17th term, and elect the Delegation to attend the 14th National Women's Congress.

The Congress was attended by leaders of the Central Committee, the Hanoi Party Committee and 448 official delegates representing nearly 1 million female members of the Capital (including 27 ex-officio delegates and 421 elected and appointed delegates). The structure of the delegates showed diversity and representativeness: Women's Union officials at all levels accounted for 62.5%; female leaders of Party committees and authorities at all levels accounted for 8.3%; and typical members accounted for 10.7%.

In terms of qualifications, 97.8% of delegates have high school qualifications, of which 2.2% are Associate Professors, Doctors and 33.3% have Master's degrees; 27.7% of delegates have Advanced degrees, Bachelor of Political Theory. The oldest delegate is Associate Professor, Doctor Bui Thi An (82 years old) and the youngest is Dam Dieu Linh (21 years old).
