On the evening of November 12, at Chengdu Shuangliu Sport Center Stadium (Chengdu, Sichuan), the Vietnam U22 team had a smooth start at the CFA Team China – Panda Cup 2025 International Football Tournament when they defeated host U22 China with a score of 1-0, thanks to the only goal of Pham Minh Phuc in the second half.

The U22 Vietnam team entered the match confidently and was the team that created the first opportunity after only three minutes of play, however, the shots of coach Dinh Hong Vinh's students were not dangerous enough to cause trouble for the home team's goal.

After a few shaky first minutes, U22 China gradually regained control of the game and organized more dangerous attacks.

Goalkeeper Cao Van Binh became a solid stopper in the U22 Vietnam defense when he continuously blocked the opponent's dangerous shots, especially his excellent flying save in the 17th minute after Wang Bohao's powerful shot.

It was not until the end of the first half that U22 Vietnam created any truly remarkable opportunities, but Thanh Nhan missed a good opportunity when finishing from a tight angle and was pushed away by the home team's goalkeeper. A few minutes later, Khuat Van Khang fired a shot with his weaker right foot, sending the ball just wide of the post.

In the second half, coach Dinh Hong Vinh made a tactical adjustment by sending Le Van Thuan and Pham Minh Phuc onto the field. This change was a turning point for the match.

In the 80th minute, from a breakthrough on the left wing, Van Thuan passed the opponent's defender and crossed the ball inside. Defender Wang Shiqin missed, allowing Minh Phuc to rush in and finish close to the goal, opening the score 1-0 for U22 Vietnam.

In the remaining time, U22 China tried to attack but could not penetrate the focused and disciplined defense of U22 Vietnam. Goalkeeper Cao Van Binh continued to make reasonable moves, helping the team maintain the 1-0 victory until the end of the match.

In the next two matches, U22 Vietnam will meet U22 Korea on November 15 and face U22 Uzbekistan on November 18.

CFA Team China – Panda Cup 2025 is a warm-up tournament for U22 Vietnam before the 33rd SEA Games and towards the 2026 AFC U23 Championship.
