The Comprehensive Partnership between Vietnam and Canada is growing strongly and has the potential to go further in the future. In particular, the relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Canada, including cities such as Vancouver and Toronto, is also noteworthy.
Highlights of the relationship include: Trade cooperation: Ho Chi Minh City is the largest economic hub of Vietnam, where many trade activities with Canada take place. This relationship opens up many opportunities for businesses on both sides. Investment: Canada has invested in many areas in Ho Chi Minh City, from information technology to real estate, creating opportunities for economic development and employment. Education and culture: There are many educational cooperation programs between universities and educational institutions in Ho Chi Minh City and organizations in Canada, promoting cultural and intellectual exchanges. Solving global problems: The two sides can cooperate in areas such as environmental protection, climate change response and sustainable development, in line with common goals. With these solid foundations, the Vietnam-Canada relationship, especially between Ho Chi Minh City and Canadian localities, will certainly continue to develop and expand in the future. Ho Chi Minh City is confident that it is an important economic locomotive of Vietnam, with many advantages in infrastructure, living environment, investment, business, human resources and mechanisms and policies, which will contribute to making the goal of increasing bilateral trade turnover from the current 7 billion USD to 10 billion USD in the near future become a reality. With a long history of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Canada, with the affection of many generations of leaders and people of the two countries for each other, the Vietnam-Canada Comprehensive Partnership, including the relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Canada, will go further in the future. That was the opinion of Mr. Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee at the Canada National Day Celebration (July 1, 1867 - July 1, 2024), organized by the Consulate General of Canada in Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of June 26, in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Vo Van Hoan said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1973, the relationship between Vietnam and Canada has continuously developed steadily, becoming more and more substantial and effective, with the establishment of a Comprehensive Partnership in November 2017 during the visit of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. In line with the extensive cooperation in many areas of the Vietnam-Canada Comprehensive Partnership, cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Canada has also been strongly promoted in the fields of investment, trade, cultural exchange, tourism, people-to-people exchange, etc. With the desire to contribute to the implementation of Canada's Indo-Pacific Strategy, Ho Chi Minh City invites the Canadian Business Association in Vietnam and its members to participate more actively in the city's investment promotion and trade connection events so that people can learn more about Canada's quality products, services and technologies.
