Ms. Cap Thi Kieu Oanh, a population officer of Hai Hung commune, Hai Lang district, said: "The activities of the pre-marital club model have helped local youth equip themselves with knowledge about reproductive health, reducing abortion and unsafe sex before marriage.

Through the club's activities, young people share difficult issues about the development of the body during puberty, reproductive health, and sexual health. From there, union members and young people have the right thinking, are more aware of the benefits of premarital health care, know how to protect themselves, take care of reproductive health as well as fully prepare for entering married life.

The Provincial Department of Population coordinates with district, town and city health centers to deploy pre-marital health examination and counseling services through population collaborators to reach out and mobilize young people to conduct pre-marital health examination and counseling. Implement centralized counseling in the community and direct counseling at public health facilities.

Include pre-marital health consultation service packages in the integrated communication campaign to provide population and family planning services. Therefore, in 2024, the implementation of pre-marital health consultation and examination services achieved many encouraging results: 814 men and women received pre-marital health consultation and examination. The rate of men and women receiving pre-marital health consultation and examination increased by 12%...

In addition to the achieved results, the implementation of the project still faces some difficulties such as: awareness and practice of seeking counseling services and pre-marital health examinations of young men and women are still very limited. Medical facilities in the province have not focused on investing in implementing direct counseling and health examination services for men and women preparing for marriage. The implementation and maintenance of the pre-marital club model is currently facing many difficulties because young men and women in the communes often work far away, so the number of participants is still small...

Mr. Nguyen Huong Chuong added: Pre-marital health consultation and examination is one of the necessary and important factors to help men and women preparing for marriage to be equipped with more knowledge about health care; to have their overall health checked and assessed. From there, prepare the conditions for married life, including giving birth to healthy children.

Promoting the achieved results, overcoming the shortcomings and limitations, in the coming time, the provincial health - population sector will continue to promote propaganda to raise awareness through the activities of pre-marital clubs and direct counseling and mobilization at households with people of marriageable age. Focus on pre-marital counseling and health examination activities at medical facilities. Encourage non-public medical facilities to participate in providing counseling and health examination services for young people before marriage with a clearly defined list of technical services.
