Promoting Vietnamese cultural heritage values

To promote the promotion of cultural heritage values ​​associated with tourism development, from November 21 to 26, the Vietnam Exhibition Center for Culture and Arts in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of provinces and cities across the country organized the Vietnam Cultural Heritage and Tourism Festival 2019 with the theme "Cultural heritage in the process of tourism development" at No. 2, Hoa Lu (Hanoi).

Hundreds of delegates representing ethnic groups in the Vietnamese ethnic community from the provinces and cities of Hanoi, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Ho Chi Minh City will attend the Vietnam Cultural Heritage and Tourism Festival 2019 at the Vietnam Exhibition Center for Culture and Arts. The highlight is the activities at the exhibition space organized in coordination with the Vietnam Museum of Nature, the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, and Heritage Magazine, introducing the values ​​of Vietnam's cultural heritage with three rich display contents: Travel through heritage sites, Vietnam's Nature, and Vietnam Heritage 2019. Nearly 100 beautiful photos of Vietnam's heritage are displayed here, showing a general picture of the history, culture, heritage, beauty of the country, and life of Vietnamese people. It is a journey of connection, creating cultural and spiritual life, tangible and intangible cultural heritages that are always preserved and promoted. The majestic natural beauty, cultural beauty, festivals, scenic spots, daily human life activities create a diverse and close whole that attracts visitors... The area displaying images and geological and paleontological specimens will show the unique features of Vietnamese nature, typically the extremely diverse and rich world of insects recorded by photographers and experts from the Museum of Natural History (University of Florence, Italy) and the Vietnam Museum of Nature during survey trips in Vietnam over the past ten years.

Along with that, an exhibition space of provinces and cities with the participation of many tourism and travel agencies on the theme of connecting culture and tourism, helping viewers experience a long journey across the country, increasing understanding of the cultural and natural heritages typical of each locality and the direction of sustainable exploitation, both preserving and promoting heritage values ​​in the period of integration and development. The potentials and local tourism products are vividly promoted through models, artifacts, images, videos, and installation art. Visitors can learn and experience the religious rituals and performing arts imbued with the national identity of the Tay, Nung, H'Mong, and Dao ethnic groups; Ede, Gia Rai..., visit the lands, from the ancient capital of Hue to the windy Central Highlands, watch performances of Hue royal court music, Central Highlands gongs, Southern amateur music, ancient Then singing, solo and ensemble performances of traditional musical instruments. Besides, there are booths displaying specialties, typical tourist souvenirs and culinary art programs of regions, areas and localities with the space of "Vietnamese tea culture" and calligraphy art. The highlight is the booth of Ho Chi Minh City on architectural heritages associated with the development process of the city over 320 years old.

The most exciting part of the festival is the exhibition "Cultural heritage, craft tourism and traditional craft villages of Vietnam" introducing and honoring 33 traditional crafts that have been awarded the title of National Intangible Cultural Heritage of handicrafts, along with the quintessence of traditional handicrafts serving tourism nationwide. Within the framework of the festival, the Vietnam Exhibition Center for Culture and Arts will organize a discussion on "Cultural heritage of crafts, traditional craft villages integrating internationally in 2019" and a signing ceremony of tourist destinations connecting with craft villages and artisans in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Sa Pa (Lao Cai), Hoi An (Quang Nam), Thua Thien Hue. Right after the opening art program of the festival called "Cultural Colors" which gathered many unique art performances, during the festival there were also cultural and artistic programs, performances of Hue royal court music, Central Highlands gongs, Southern amateur music, ancient singing, a hair cutting contest (Kim Lien craft village) and clay figurine making (Xuan La craft village), a painting contest "Vietnam, my homeland", and an exchange with the student music group "Youth with cultural heritage, Vietnam tourism".

According to the leader of the Vietnam Exhibition Center for Culture and Arts, the Vietnam Cultural Heritage, Sports and Tourism Festival 2019 is a key event directed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, opening a series of other events nationwide to respond to and celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day on November 23, contributing to raising community awareness in preserving the cultural heritage of ethnic groups.
