
With the theme "Ensuring food safety, focusing on food safety in collective kitchens, catering services and street food", implementing the Action Month for Food Safety this year, Quang Nam focuses on strengthening communication, raising awareness and tightening management in the food sector.
Ms. Le Thi Hong Cam - Head of the Food Safety and Hygiene Department said that during the Food Safety Action Month, the unit will advise on organizing interdisciplinary inspection teams on food safety assurance in the locality, and conduct on-site inspections at food production, trading and advertising establishments.
At the same time, through inspections, the role of authorities at all levels, management agencies, social organizations and consumer supervision in compliance with food safety laws for individuals and food production and trading establishments will be enhanced.
Focus on activities to improve prevention capacity, proactively handle food poisoning and food-borne diseases; minimize poisoning caused by consumption of unsafe food in the community.

According to the plan, the provincial launching ceremony will be held in Dien Ban town, while localities in the province will flexibly organize conferences, seminars, and propaganda on the grassroots radio system.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Health to preside over and coordinate with sectors and localities to step up inter-sectoral inspections and strictly handle violating establishments. Accordingly, there will be 3 inter-sectoral inspection teams led by the Departments of Health, Agriculture and Environment, and Industry and Trade to conduct inter-sectoral inspections in 9 districts, towns, and cities. The inspection teams will conduct sampling, conduct quick on-site inspections, and publicize the handling results.
All implementation results will be summarized and reported to the Provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Department before May 20 to report to the Provincial People's Committee and the Central Government.
This is a necessary effort in the context of the complex and potentially dangerous food insecurity situation, directly affecting people's health and the reputation of local products.
During the inspection of food safety for the Lunar New Year and the Spring Festival season 2025 (from January to March 2025), the Interdisciplinary Steering Committee on Food Safety of Quang Nam province established 181 inspection teams, of which 3 were at the provincial level, 13 were at the district level and 165 were at the communal level.
