Quang Ninh integrates two railway lines into provincial planning

After the Prime Minister approved the adjustment of the national railway network planning, Quang Ninh urgently integrated two key railway lines into the provincial planning, opening up new development space.

After the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 2404/QD-TTg adjusting the Railway Network Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050; including adding two key railway lines: Hai Phong - Ha Long - Mong Cai and Hanoi - Quang Ninh high-speed, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province directed relevant agencies to quickly adjust and integrate the above two railway lines into the provincial planning.

The province also specifically assigned specialized agencies to implement detailed planning of the Hanoi - Quang Ninh high-speed railway route and stations, ensuring progress and regular reporting; coordinate with consultants to complete the preliminary route direction on the field, determine land types, set up landmarks and assign communes and wards to manage. At the same time, carry out steps to prepare for approving investment policies for sections of the Hai Phong - Ha Long - Mong Cai route using the provincial budget.

The Hanoi – Quang Ninh high-speed railway line with a speed of 350 km/h and exclusive passenger train operation, with a gauge of 1,435 mm according to international standards, is expected to become the “backbone” of the economic triangle Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh, significantly shortening travel distances, while promoting tourism, logistics and high-tech industry. This is a breakthrough, creating a premise for the industrialization and modernization phase associated with green and smart development of Quang Ninh.
