Accordingly, 5 communes have officially announced the end of the epidemic, including Dan Hoa, Bac Gianh, Tuyen Son, Tan Thanh and Huong Phung.

Along with that, 6 other communes and wards have gone 21 days without new outbreaks, including Nam Trach, Dong Trach, Le Thuy, Cam Lo, Tuyen Lam and Nam Dong Ha.

Since May 15, the epidemic has spread to 64/78 communes and wards in the area, forcing the destruction of 74,695 pigs of more than 9,000 households.

Mr. Duong Viet Phuong Tuan, Deputy Head of the Quang Tri Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, warned: "DTHCP still has the potential to recur and spread. Localities and breeders need to continue to tighten biosafety measures, make declarations and strictly comply with regulations to soon completely control the epidemic."
