Warm home

In late April, the new spacious house of Mrs. Pham Thi Phan's family (84 years old, Cang Tay residential group, Dong Phu town) was completed, bringing great joy to the elderly woman, living alone in extremely difficult conditions.

As a poor household in the locality, Mrs. Phan is old and often sick, living with her son, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, in a dilapidated temporary house. Understanding this situation, in early 2025, through the Que Son District Fund for the Poor Mobilization Committee, the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB Bank) supported 60 million VND for Mrs. Phan's family to build a new house.

Along with that is preferential loans, help from relatives, clans and neighbors. During the construction process, local people not only contributed to demolishing old houses, transporting materials but also supported meals for the construction workers, showing strong neighborly love.

After nearly 2 months of construction, a spacious, clean, 110m2 level 4 house has been completed. The house has 4 bedrooms, 1 worship room, 1 kitchen, tiled floor, tiled roof, with a total construction cost of more than 400 million VND.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung emotionally shared: “Before, when it rained, it leaked everywhere, it was so miserable, my family did not dare to think that one day we would be able to live in a new house. The family is very happy, excited and grateful to the authorities, sponsors and neighbors.”

According to Mr. Nguyen Huy Quang - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Phu town, supporting the construction of a house for Ms. Pham Thi Phan's family is not only materially meaningful, but also a great source of spiritual encouragement, helping the family overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.

“During the implementation process, the locality mobilized the community’s strength, promoted the role of mass organizations such as the Farmers’ Association, Women’s Union, Youth Union… actively propagandized and mobilized people to join hands. People in the residential group enthusiastically contributed to demolishing old houses, transporting materials, cooking for workers…

All aim to bring a warm and loving home to poor households. Through that, we not only help people settle down but also foster and strengthen the great national unity bloc more and more firmly" - Mr. Quang said.

Sustainable housing

Not only stopping at individual support, in recent times, social security work in Que Son district has been implemented synchronously, methodically, closely linked with national target programs and effectively mobilizing social resources.

With the spirit of "mutual love", Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB Bank) - Quang Nam Branch has accompanied Que Son district in the journey to eliminate temporary houses.

Mr. Le Truong Giang - Branch Director said: "MB Bank has donated 3 billion VND to the Fund for the Poor in Que Son district to support the construction of 50 solidarity houses for poor, near-poor and extremely disadvantaged households.

Each house is supported with 60 million VND, expected to be completed and handed over before July 2025. In the coming time, we will continue to accompany Que Son district and Quang Nam province in meaningful social security activities, helping people stabilize their lives and gradually escape poverty."

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy - Vice Chairman of Que Son District People's Committee said that recently, the locality has identified the task of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses as one of the urgent and key tasks in building new rural areas.

Thanks to the strong direction of the government, the synchronous participation of the entire political system and the joint efforts of businesses and social organizations, many households in the area have had the opportunity to settle down in new, spacious, warm and affectionate houses.

Up to now, the whole district has completed the construction and repair of 201/217 houses according to Resolution No. 13 of the Provincial People's Council, reaching a rate of 92.6%. The remaining 16 cases (13 newly built houses, 3 repaired houses) are being urgently constructed, striving to complete as soon as possible.

In addition, the district is implementing housing support for people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives according to Decision No. 21/2024/QD-TTg with a total of 66 houses (44 newly built, 22 repaired) and 43 houses for poor and near-poor households according to Resolution No. 07 of the Provincial People's Council (16 newly built, 27 repaired). The projects are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2025.

“The goal is that by the end of 2025, no households in the area will have to live in temporary or dilapidated houses. After that, the locality will continue to implement synchronous solutions to support livelihoods, provide vocational training, create jobs, increase income, and help people develop sustainably. This is not only a story about people's infrastructure, but also a political responsibility and obligation with profound human values,” Ms. Thuy shared.
