On August 26, in Hanoi , the Writers' Association Publishing House organized the launch of the short story collection "Following His Footprints". This is a work marking the dedicated, elaborate and persistent journey over many years of Professor, Doctor, writer Trinh Quang Phu (Director of the Institute for Oriental Development Studies) about Uncle Ho's 30-year journey abroad.

The book has a capacity of nearly 600 pages, telling the story of a 30-year journey, from the young man Nguyen Tat Thanh leaving Nha Rong Wharf (June 5, 1911) traveling around the world, learning about the struggle movement, the revolutionary path in many countries such as France, America, England, the Soviet Union, China... then returning to Pac Bo ( Cao Bang ) to directly lead the Vietnamese revolution (January 28, 1941).
This is also the work that marks the writer's promise. Trinh Quang Phu with Prime Minister Pham Van Dong and General Vo Nguyen Giap during his lifetime. The author went to the places where Uncle Ho lived to collect documents, take notes and compare, then write stories from a new perspective, vividly conveying Uncle Ho's life and career during his years abroad.

Professor, Doctor Trinh Quang Phu was born in 1940, hometown in Tuy An district, province. Phu Yen. In his literary career, he has many works written about Uncle Ho, including: The South is in His heart, He is the belief, Uncle Ho's path to save the country, Following Uncle Ho to fight the resistance, From Sen village to Nha Rong wharf and most recently "Following His Footprints". Of which, the work "From Sen Village to Ben Nha Rong" has been reprinted 22 times in 27 years, receiving the A prize for "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style" in 2023.
Speaking at the book launch, poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association, emphasized: The work of writer Trinh Quang Phu has given us a fresher look at the great historical figure Ho Chi Minh. A documentary memoir blends with literary quality, telling a story that is both realistic and intimate. Thanks to the book, we seem to relive the past, next to Uncle Ho. That is a literary miracle, recreating the past, making everything more vivid.

Sharing about the work, Vice President of the Vietnam Writers Association Nguyen Binh Phuong commented: Writing literature about history is difficult, writing about a historical figure that everyone knows like Uncle Ho is even more difficult. Besides, writing about Uncle Ho requires constant respect and persistent courage and writer Trinh Quang Phu has turned respect into action.
Sharing specifically about the collection of stories and memoirs, writer Trinh Quang Phu recalled: After the work "From Sen village to Nha Rong wharf" was first printed at the Literature Publishing House in 1996, he brought the book to give to Prime Minister Pham Van Dong, whom he often affectionately called "Uncle To".
During that intimate conversation, "Uncle To" told the author: "You should spend time researching the 30 years Uncle Ho spent abroad. The thirty years from the day Uncle Ho left Saigon until the day he returned home are a very fascinating treasure."

So for a quarter of a century, Mr. Trinh Quang Phu has been to France, England, America, Russia, China... there are countries like France and Russia, he has been to dozens of times. He collected documents and took notes, then compared. He was moved and encouraged when he went to any country, in any political system, he also felt that the people there respected Uncle Ho, cherished him and they were proud that their country bore Uncle Ho's footprints.
"With all my noble feelings for Uncle Ho, with the urge of a writer, I have created the memoir "Following His Footsteps". I hope to bring readers useful information and documents, and through these pages, readers will understand more, love, and learn the style and noble will of beloved Uncle Ho," the writer emotionally expressed.
