Further clarification of the plan to upgrade Ho Chi Minh road, Nam Can - Dat Mui section
Ho Chi Minh Highway section from Nam Can to Dat Mui, Ca Mau province will be invested in upgrading and expanding the entire route to ensure it meets the standards of a grade III plain road.

The Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board has just submitted to the Ministry of Transport for review and appraisal the Pre-feasibility Study Report of the Project to upgrade and expand Ho Chi Minh Road from Nam Can to Dat Mui, Ca Mau province after receiving comments from relevant agencies and units.
The project's starting point (Km0+00) coincides with post Km2377 of Ho Chi Minh road, coincides with route Km2297 of National Highway 1, Nam Can district, Ca Mau province; the end point is at Km58+455 at the beginning of the flagpole area in Dat Mui tourist area, Ngoc Hien district, Ca Mau province.
The total length of the route under the Ho Chi Minh Road Upgrade and Expansion Project from Nam Can to Dat Mui is about 58.46 km.
The Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board proposed that the Ministry of Transport invest in upgrading and expanding the entire route to ensure it meets the standards of a grade III plain road, with a 12 m wide roadbed and a wide road surface. In particular, the section from Km0 to Km6+800 through Nam Can urban area has a 25 m wide roadbed and a 21 m wide road surface; the section from Km6+800 to the end of the route has a 12 m wide roadbed and a 11 m wide road surface.
The project also builds two more bridges with a width of 11 m next to the existing bridge to match the scale of the roadbed in the urban area; maintains two bridges with a width of 12 m; expands 24 existing bridges with a current width of 9 m to match the scale of the roadbed of 12 m; builds a new roundabout intersection with Bong Van Dia Street (Km18+783) and renovates an intersection with Road No. 2 (Road 962) in Rach Goc Town.
With the above investment scale, the total investment of the Project is 5,586.6 billion VND, of which the construction cost is 3,371 billion VND.
The investment in expanding the Ho Chi Minh road from Nam Can to Dat Mui aims to implement the policy of building the Ho Chi Minh road according to Resolution No. 66/2013/QH13 dated November 29, 2013.
The project also gradually completes the planning for the development of the transport network and the overall planning for the socio-economic development of Ca Mau province. It contributes to the completion of the planning of transport infrastructure and creates a unified network with convenient connections in the Mekong Delta.
The project contributes to improving exploitation capacity and reducing traffic accidents to promote the role of Ho Chi Minh road in connecting localities, promoting socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the region.
