Each flower pot, each different fragrance, is carefully cared for by people, shaped to be the most beautiful, promising to bring a colorful Spring. “Tet flowers are attractive because of their diversity, many new and beautiful varieties, unique and strange flowers, potted plants such as sunflowers, chrysanthemums of all kinds... along with some fruit trees for Tet display” - Ms. Nguyen Thi Trinh (Long Xuyen City) shared.

At the same time, they design booths selling decorative products, handicrafts, clothing, consumer goods, confectionery, food stalls, shaped and engraved fruits... to serve people's Tet shopping needs.

The Spring flower market in Cho Moi district is held from January 14 to 28, at the embankment of Xang canal, Cho Moi town and Long Dien B commune, with more than 100 lots displaying and selling all kinds of ornamental plants, flowers and local specialties to serve people shopping for Tet. In particular, there are 2 lots displaying local OCOP products (One Commune One Product Program).

According to flower growers in An Thanh Islet (Cho Moi District) who directly bring flowers to the Spring Flower Market in Long Xuyen City to sell, they said: To have beautiful, bright and blooming Tet flower pots, gardeners must prepare from after the previous Lunar New Year. People store organic fertilizers to help the plants grow well. Depending on the growth characteristics of each variety, each type of flower has a different early or late planting time. In particular, gardeners are always interested in "hunting" for new varieties, mainly from Da Lat (Lam Dong Province) and Sa Dec (Dong Thap Province) or self-propagating to meet the diverse needs of the market.

Ms. Trinh Thi Ngoa, who has been selling Tet flowers at Long Xuyen flower market for more than 20 years, said: “I grow flowers in An Thanh islet (Cho Moi district), every year I rent lots to sell all kinds of potted flowers. This year I rented 2 lots for nearly 7 million VND to sell Tet flowers. Last year, I sold more than 4,000 flower pots, with a revenue of more than 100 million VND, but there were not enough flowers to sell, the most popular being Korean raspberry flowers. This year, there are many new varieties such as the bright red queen flower, super-flowered, blooming all year round, and hundreds of pots have been sold... Ms. Min, who grows flowers in An Thanh islet and sells at Long Xuyen market, also said: “The price of flowers this year is relatively the same as last year. Carnations are 50,000 VND/pair, dahlias are 100,000 VND/pair, and fragrant lavender is 70,000 VND/pair”...

In the area near Duy Tan bridge (Long Xuyen flower market), there are also "huge" priced yellow apricot trees for sale, with traders asking prices from several hundred million to several billion VND. Among them, "Old apricot" of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Toan, a 60-year-old apricot tree is considered the best in base and second in trunk, completely natural, 2.5m in diameter, for sale at 5.5 billion VND. Some 5-6m tall yellow apricot trees are for sale at 1.6-1.8 billion VND, many trees are priced at 100-120 million VND.

Mr. Phuc (in Ben Tre province) said: “This year at Long Xuyen market, I specialize in selling almond trees, currently priced at 320,000 VND/tree, about 8 - 9 inches high, about 1 meter wide, in plastic pots with the words Loc, Tho, Tai, Phuc... to plant with the hope of bringing luck and fortune at the beginning of the year. Mr. Hai, who specializes in selling super-flowered Thu Duc apricot trees, shared that the price of apricot trees this year is not high compared to last year, the price is about 1 - 2 million VND/pot of apricot trees, small apricot trees for tables are 100,000 - 200,000 VND/pot. This year's apricot prices are softer than last year, expecting purchasing power to increase near Tet.”
