* The book “Letters to the South” by the late General Secretary Le Duan was published by the Truth National Political Publishing House for the third time on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. The book includes more than 40 letters and telegrams from comrade Le Duan to leaders in the southern battlefields during the resistance war against the US to save the country from 1961 to 1975.
The book's content vividly reflects the revolutionary practice as well as clearly shows the Party Central Committee's skillful and close leadership of the Southern revolution; at the same time, it demonstrates the strategic vision of a key leader in the struggle for national independence.
The book opens with a letter written by comrade Le Duan on February 7, 1961 to Mr. Muoi Cuc (ie comrade Nguyen Van Linh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Central Office for Southern Vietnam, from the end of 1957 to 1964) and other comrades in the South, with a passage: “While still in the South, during discussions about the revolutionary path in the South with comrades, I realized that the revolution in the South did not proceed through a long-term struggle... like China did, but followed the path of Vietnam, that is, having partial uprisings, establishing bases, having guerrilla warfare, then moving on to a general uprising...”.
In a letter to the Central Office for Southern Vietnam (July 18, 1962), he stated: “The fundamental thing is that the leader must always be steadfast, go in the right direction, grasp the situation firmly and clearly…” And at noon on April 30, 1975, the Ho Chi Minh Campaign was completely victorious. Comrade Le Duan, on behalf of the Politburo and the Party Central Committee, sent a telegram of praise to all cadres and soldiers participating in the Campaign with the people of Saigon - Gia Dinh.
Through the letters and telegrams of the late General Secretary Le Duan, he summarized the basic issues of the Party's revolutionary line in the South, which is "the determination of the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army to defeat many types of strategies and tactics applied by the enemy in the South, liberate the South, and unify the country". The book is a valuable document, contributing to fostering patriotism and the will to be self-reliant for the young generation today and tomorrow.
