Mr. Choi Joo Ho - General Director of Samsung Vietnam Complex - affirmed that the recent information about Samsung moving its smartphone production line from Vietnam to India is not true. The output of Samsung's factory in Vietnam is not affected by the output in India.
The above information was given by Mr. Choi Joo Ho at a working session with leaders of Thai Nguyen province on March 17, posted on the Thai Nguyen province electronic information portal.
At the meeting, the General Director of Samsung Vietnam Complex affirmed that recent information about Samsung moving its smartphone production line from Vietnam to India is not true.
" Products manufactured in India mainly serve the domestic market and a small part is exported to African countries, while Vietnam exports to 128 countries around the world . Thus, the output of Samsung factories in Vietnam is not affected by the output in India ," said Mr. Choi Joo Ho.

At the meeting, the two sides also discussed the issue of global minimum tax. Accordingly, to avoid affecting the competitiveness of Samsung Vietnam, Samsung Group said it hopes the Vietnamese Government will quickly review and find a solution to this issue.
With the proposal of Samsung Vietnam, the leaders of Thai Nguyen province said that they will support and accompany to propose and recommend to the National Assembly and the Government of Vietnam to consider building a mechanism to adapt to the global minimum tax, promptly remove difficulties. Thereby, continue to maintain and promote the role of "global production base" of Samsung Group in Vietnam, continue to contribute greatly to the socio-economic development of Thai Nguyen province as well as the whole country.
Samsung Electronics Vietnam - Thai Nguyen (SEVT) started construction in 2013 with a capital of 2 billion USD, after 1 year the project increased by 3 billion USD. After that, Samsung continuously increased its investment capital and expanded production.
Most recently, Samsung increased its capital by another 1,187 million USD to the Samsung Electro - Mechanics Vietnam Factory in Thai Nguyen province, raising the group's total investment in Thai Nguyen to more than 7.5 billion USD.

Leaders of Samsung Group units in Thai Nguyen province also pledged to continue to maintain stable production or increase growth compared to 2022 and continue to research and invest in the production of semiconductor chip grid products, testing in May and officially going into production from November 2023.
In 2023, Samsung in Thai Nguyen aims for 5% growth.
