In just a few days, the Hung Kings Commemoration Festival in Phan Ri Cua town will take place with a series of extremely attractive cultural and sporting activities and events. Up to this point, the preparations for the festival have been basically completed, ensuring the National Ceremony takes place solemnly and safely.
Present at the Hung Kings Temple on a morning in early March of the lunar calendar, we saw a very urgent atmosphere here, as people were constantly sweeping and cleaning the altars to prepare for the anniversary. Other members checked and prepared essential items, flags, parasols, decorations, and forces to train the formation for the rituals to serve the ceremony in a thoughtful, solemn, and safe manner. Along with that, propaganda activities are being promoted by the Organizing Committee and sub-committees to raise public awareness of the sacred meaning of the festival, arouse national pride and responsibility to preserve culture. At the Hung Kings Temple and along the route from Nam Bridge along Thong Nhat Street to the temple, as well as the main roads in Phan Ri Cua town, the red color of the national flag, festival flags, red flags, banners with slogans, lights and flowers...
According to the plan, the Hung Kings' Commemoration Festival in 2025 will take place at the Hung Kings' Temple, Phan Ri Cua town, including the ceremony and the festival. The ceremony will start at 6:30 a.m. on April 7 (March 10 of the lunar calendar), including the procession of the ancestors from relics and religious establishments to the Hung Kings' Temple; the incense offering ceremony to commemorate the Hung Kings; and the grand ancient ceremony according to traditional customs. This year, there are 2 localities participating in the festival: Phan Thiet city and Ham Tan district.
Along with that, the festival took place excitingly with a program of singing and dancing to serve the people on the evening of April 6 (the 9th day of the third lunar month); a scholarship awarding ceremony for students of Phan Ri Cua town who achieved excellent results in studying and training on the evening of April 7. In addition, before the holiday, the People's Committee of the district and the People's Committee of Phan Ri Cua town organized for people to participate in folk games; a competition to wrap and cook banh chung and banh giay; a Hung Vuong Cup football tournament; a table tennis, badminton, and 3-cushion carom billiards tournament between teams of Tuy Phong, Phan Thiet, Ham Tan and other localities in the province.
In preparation for the tournament, Tuy Phong District Culture, Sports and Broadcasting Center has repainted the field and prepared technical equipment to ensure athletes can compete with all their might. The teams are still actively practicing, ready to bring exciting and attractive competitions.
According to the festival organizing committee, this year the number of visitors and people attending is expected to be higher than previous years, because officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers have 3 consecutive days off (from Saturday to Monday), so plans to ensure security, order, traffic safety, fire prevention, lighting systems, disease prevention, environmental sanitation, etc. are all focused on, ready to welcome delegates and people to offer incense.
The Hung Kings Temple, formerly the communal house of Cam Hai village, was built by local people and completed in 1859 to worship the local tutelary god and the ancestors who had contributed to reclaiming land and gathering people to establish villages in Phan Ri Cua. In 1958, the people added the Hung Kings to worship. In 1964, after the Hai Hoi Pagoda was completed, the Phan Ri Cua Buddhist Association transferred all the functions of worshipping Buddha to the pagoda and the relic only had the main function of worshipping the National Ancestor Hung Kings. In 2016, the Provincial People's Committee developed a Project to organize the Hung Kings' Commemoration Festival at the Hung Kings Temple in Phan Ri Cua from a private festival of local officials and people to a common festival of officials and people in the province.
Since then, as a promise, no matter what they do or where they are, every March 10th of the lunar calendar, the people of Binh Thuan gather here to attend the Ancestor's Commemoration Festival with a sincere heart, deeply grateful to the Hung Kings who built the country and the previous generations who reclaimed the land, created villages so that the next generations could inherit a prosperous and happy life. Together, we join hands to contribute to building our homeland Binh Thuan in particular and Vietnam in general to become more and more prosperous.
