(NLDO) – Each tael of SJC gold bar this morning "evaporated" more than 1 million VND, in the afternoon buying price in many places was only 81.9 million VND/tael.

This morning, December 19, under pressure from falling world gold prices, SJC Company listed the buying price of SJC gold bars at 81.9 million VND/tael and the selling price at 83.9 million VND/tael, down 1.2 million VND per tael compared to yesterday.

A series of other gold companies such as PNJ, DOJI , Bao Tin Minh Chau... also lowered gold buying and selling prices by millions of VND/tael.

Banks likeACB buy SJC gold bars at 82.5 million VND/tael and sell at 84.5 million VND/tael. Eximbank buys at 81.9 million VND/tael and sells at 83.9 million VND/tael, while Sacombank buys at 82.5 million VND/tael but sells at 85.5 million VND/tael, which is nearly 2 million VND higher than other units.

Because gold prices fluctuate rapidly and plummet, there are differences between banks and gold companies.

SJC gold bar price plummeted this morning

Meanwhile, the price of plain gold rings and jewelry gold of all kinds also plummeted, although the rate of decrease was not as fast as that of SJC gold bars. SJC Company traded 99.99 gold rings at 81.9 million VND/tael for purchase and 83.6 million VND/tael for sale, "evaporating" 800,000 VND per tael.

Domestic gold prices plummeted as world prices fell freely in last night's trading session, after the US Federal Reserve (FED) cut interest rates for the third time this year by 0.25 percentage points.

However, the FED is expected to cut interest rates only twice in 2025, each time by 0.25 percentage points, and forecasts that inflation in the US will increase slightly in the next one or two years. This development caused the USD index to surge to more than 108.2 points, putting downward pressure on gold prices.

At 8:45 a.m. Vietnam time, the price of gold today on the international market was at 2,615 USD/ounce, down about 35 USD/ounce compared to the previous session and at its lowest level since mid-November.

Currently, the world gold price converted according to the listed exchange rate is about 80.5 million VND/tael.
