The Russian military has released a video showing Russian forces successfully carrying out an attack on a US-made M113 APC armored personnel carrier used by Ukrainian forces.

The US M113 infantry fighting vehicle is known as the “battle taxi” of the US Army. They are considered obsolete and are gradually being phased out of the US Army. However, with the use of tracked and light weight, the M113 armored personnel carrier is considered suitable for fighting in the muddy rains of Donbass.

According to RT, the released images were said to have been filmed near the town of Svatovo in Donbass. The 9K111 Fagot anti-tank missile system was used by the Russian military, and the successful attack was later confirmed by images recorded by drones. The Ukrainian army's armored vehicle was badly damaged.

The Russian Defense Ministry added that in addition to the M113 armored personnel carrier, a Ukrainian fixed position was also hit during a similar operation by the Russian military.

The moment the "Tank Killer" 9K111 Fagot attacked and destroyed the M113 armored personnel carrier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The 9K111 Fagot “tank killer” is one of the oldest and simplest weapons in the Russian arsenal, but it still works very effectively. The 9K111 Fagot has been in service since the 1970s.

The 9K111 Fagot missile system consists of a 9P135 launcher, a 9S415 guidance box and a 9SH119 optical sight, with a length of 1,030mm, a diameter of 120mm and a launch weight of 22.5kg. With a maximum range of 2,500m, the missile is capable of penetrating 400mm of uniform armor.

The system can lock on and destroy targets moving at speeds below 60 km/h. The launcher can rotate 360 degrees horizontally and has an elevation angle of +/- 20 degrees. The sight has a 10x magnification and a 5-degree field of view. Three missiles can be fired per minute from the launcher. The system uses a gas generator to push the missile out of the launcher - the gas also exits from the rear of the launcher in a recoilless rifle style. The gunner must lie prone when firing.
