Diamond-shaped interchange will be built on Bien Hoa highway

TPO – Ba Ria – Vung Tau will build a complete diamond-shaped intersection of Bien Hoa – Vung Tau expressway with provincial road 991 and My Xuan – Ngai Giao – Hoa Binh road with a total estimated investment of 1,495 billion VND.

The Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee has just announced the conclusion of the Provincial Party Committee's agreement on the investment policy of the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau expressway intersection with Provincial Road 991 and My Xuan – Ngai Giao – Hoa Binh road.

Previously, at the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee, after listening to the report of the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee requesting investment policy for the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway intersection with Provincial Road 991, along with the opinions expressed at the meeting, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee discussed and agreed to the investment policy according to the proposal for the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway intersection with Provincial Road 991.

The Provincial Party Standing Committee assigned the Party Committee of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to direct the implementation of the next steps to implement the investment in the above intersection, ensuring the correct process, order, procedures and regulations.

According to the report of the Department of Transport of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the design of component project 3 of Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, the section through Ba Ria - Vung Tau province only has a complete grade-separated intersection with DT992 road, while the intersection with DT991 is a traffic without connection.

According to the planning of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, Provincial Road 991 is one of two provincial roads connecting Cai Mep - Thi Vai port area, Phu My town, Chau Duc district, Xuyen Moc district and Binh Thuan province. Therefore, it is necessary for Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to invest in building an intersection between Provincial Road 991 and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway.

The Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway Component 3 project through Ba Ria – Vung Tau province has gradually taken shape.

The Department of Transport of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has presented 3 options for building a grade-separated interchange connecting Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway and proposed option 2 (a complete diamond-shaped interchange with a total estimated investment of 1,495 billion VND).

The Standing Committee of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee assigned the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to continue completing procedures to submit to the Ministry of Transport the investment proposal for this important intersection. The entire cost of the intersection construction will be taken from the local budget.

Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway is nearly 54 km long, the section through Dong Nai province is more than 34 km and the section through Ba Ria – Vung Tau province is nearly 20 km. The project started in June 2023 with a total investment of more than 17,800 billion VND.

The project is divided into three components, of which component one is invested by Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee with a length of 16 km, component two is 18.2 km long and managed by the Ministry of Transport, and component three is 19.5 km long and managed by Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial People's Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Van Trinh - Director of the Cai Mep - Thi Vai Port Traffic Project Management Board, the investor of component project 3 - said that the project includes a construction package (package 11 - construction and equipment). There are 11 bridges and 1 underpass along the entire route. The consortium of 3 contractors is simultaneously implementing many construction phases.

The road section has completed the construction of the cement concrete mixing station at Km39+950 and Km48+800. At the same time, the stone crushing station has also been installed at the quarry in Chau Pha commune, Phu My town. The K0.95 and K1.02 roadbeds, service roads, right branch roads at the intersection of National Highway 56 and crushed stone grading have been constructed.

"In reality, the construction is expected to be completed 3 months earlier than planned," said Mr. Trinh.
