The room of Le Thi Anh Nguyet, 35, a worker at an electronics company, is also packed with furniture. She is nearly 5 months pregnant with her second child. It is hot but the couple does not dare to install air conditioning because they are worried about paying a high electricity bill, which would affect other living expenses. After work, she takes advantage of the last light of the day to prepare dinner and clean the room.

At the meeting with voters organized by the National Assembly Delegation, People's Council, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Da Nang City Labor Federation on May 12, many workers said that the single room area is only 16 square meters, too small for families to live in.

Mr. Le Van Dai, Vice President of the Da Nang City Labor Federation, said that the previous calculation of the housing area was for single-family housing, "one to two people living like students is spacious". However, in reality, most workers rent to live with their families, so the space is cramped. The Federation has proposed that the city renovate and expand the rooms to 36 square meters.
