This morning (November 22), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Vietnam National University) held a graduation ceremony for more than 3,200 bachelors, engineers, architects, masters and doctors.
In this graduation session, the school recorded 27.8% of students ranked excellent or above among the total number of graduates. 11 students were awarded the All-Around Cup, including 5 students ranked excellent. In addition, 42 students from the faculties were awarded graduation gold medals, 9 students had the highest graduation average score in the industry.
Math major but won many awards in English
Notably, among the 5 excellent graduates of the entire batch is Nguyen Trong Hoang, Faculty of Electrical - Electronics, majoring in circuit systems - advanced hardware program (with an average score of 9.1/10).
Nguyen Trong Hoang used to be a student in the specialized math class of Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted ( Gia Lai ). Although he studied in the specialized math class, he was labeled by his teachers as a "illegal specialized math student" because he studied in the English team and won awards for this subject. Specifically, the encouragement prize for excellent students at the national level in English in the 2019-2020 school year, the second prize for excellent students at the provincial level in English in the 2019-2020 school year, the second prize for excellent students at the provincial level in English in the 2018-2019 school year, the bronze medal in the Olympic 30.4 English exam in the 2018-2019 school year, the silver medal in the Olympic 30.4 English exam in the 2018-2019 school year... With the above achievements, Nguyen Trong Hoang passed the IELTS test with a score of 8.0 in 2019.
In university, Trong Hoang not only achieved excellent academic results but also had an article published in SCIE-Q2 Electronics magazine. In addition to the article in Electronics magazine, Hoang participated in 2 other articles including: "Evolutionary Optimization Techniques in Analog Integrated Circuit Designs" ( Mendel Magazine - Scopus Q3); "An Efficient Design of 45nm Charge-Pump Phase-Locked Loop Architecture for Sub-1G IoT Applications" ( IEEJ Magazine - Scopus Q4).
After graduation, Trong Hoang will continue his master's program at Memorial University of Newfoundland (Canada) in the field of circuit systems - hardware, further researching optimization methods for microcircuit design.
Nguyen Trong Hoang represented more than 3,000 students to speak at the graduation ceremony.

Not only studying and researching, Trong Hoang is also very active in sports activities. Sharing about this hobby, Hoang said: "I played sports since I was little, I got into tennis when I was 3-4 years old and my grandfather was also my first tennis teacher".
Not only Hoang himself, this is also the hobby of the whole family. "My family believes that - a clear mind in a healthy body - so the family encourages children in the family to play sports. Not only does it improve physical health, this is also a healthy way to relieve stress to study better", Hoang added. Since then, at the age of 15, Hoang participated in the Ho Chi Minh City talent selection and won 2 national bronze medals in both the U.16 men's singles and the U.18 men's doubles.
Representing more than 3,000 graduates this time, Nguyen Trong Hoang gave an emotional speech when sharing his message to his parents. In his speech, Hoang said: "Dear parents, today I want to say that I have fulfilled the dreams of a first-year student. I also feel that the parents present here this graduation season, their eyes are filled with happiness when looking at their grown-up children. It is thanks to the facilitation and boundless love of our families that we can firmly step on this challenging path of learning. On behalf of the new graduates, I would like to express my deep gratitude to our parents and families, who have always loved, protected and supported us both spiritually and materially...".
Even before he finished speaking, Hoang's emotions spread to hundreds of people in the graduation hall and just after the sacred call " Mom and Dad! " was raised, the whole hall resounded with emotional applause.
