On September 20, the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center said that it has a plan to adjust the route, connecting bus route 60-5 with the Dormitory A and B stations of Ho Chi Minh City National University.
This route is organized to connect to many universities to pick up and drop off passengers, mainly serving students to travel within the area quickly and economically, starting operation from the morning of September 19.
Previously, bus route 33 changed its route, no longer passing through some points in the Ho Chi Minh City National University area, especially the pick-up point at Dormitory B, causing many students to have difficulty traveling.
Traveling from Dormitory B to schools has become a nightmare for many students. After bus route 33 stopped stopping, the units quickly added temporary solutions such as adding trips 53 and 99 and adjusting bus route number 8 from Dormitory A to Dormitory B to support.
However, the number of students in Dormitory B is increasing day by day, so these measures have not really solved the transportation problem. Every morning, hundreds of young people are forced to squeeze onto the 53, 99 or 8 buses which are already overloaded.
“Every morning I have to go to the station an hour earlier to make sure I have a seat. Many times the bus stops and is too crowded, so I have to wait for the next bus. During rush hour, catching a bus to school is more stressful than taking an exam,” said Thao Linh, a student living in Dormitory B.

Not only is it inconvenient, the long waits force many students to choose the more expensive solution of calling a technology car. The daily travel cost can be 3-4 times the bus fare (VND3,000/trip). For students in the provinces, this is a real burden.
Bus route 60-5 has just officially come into operation, expected to become a timely "savior", reducing travel pressure and providing a convenient travel solution for students, especially during rush hour.
Minh Tri, a second-year student at the University of Technology, said: “The buses in area B are always crowded. There were days when I got on the bus and couldn’t move. If there was a 60-5 route, I think it would be better, at least there would be more options.”
Similarly, Hong Yen, a student at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, expressed: “Riding a crowded bus is not only tiring, but also prone to collisions and jostling. One day it rained, waiting for the bus at the bus stop for an hour was very difficult. I was very happy when I heard about the new bus route.”
The route operates from 5am to 7pm every day, from Dormitory B, passing Dormitory A and connecting schools in Ho Chi Minh City National University.

According to the center's representative, the addition of route 60-5 is a timely measure to meet the increasing travel demand and at the same time share the load on the already overloaded routes. It is expected that the number of students using buses will increase sharply at the beginning of the new school year, so the addition of routes is necessary.
