The number of hospitalizations due to Covid-19 is on the rise in Thailand, but the situation is not worrying because it is still within the predicted level and is under control. The Thai Department of Disease Control has just announced data from May 5-11, the country had 1,880 hospitalizations due to Covid-19 infection, of which 11 died, most of them were elderly people.

Recently, the Thai Department of Disease Control also reassured Thai people to stay calm to deal well with Covid-19 to successfully prevent widespread spread, especially in residential areas.

The figures show that with a rate of 269 Covid-19 cases per day, the number of Covid-19 infections may increase in the coming time, however, statistics on Covid-19 in the recent past show that controlling the disease has become easier due to careful research in many aspects. After the Covid-19 pandemic was controlled, in Thailand as well as in the world , Covid-19 was considered an infectious disease.

The Thai Ministry of Public Health has also recently instructed the Department of Disease Control to closely monitor and assess the situation more frequently. The results show that the detection of Covid-19 cases is spread throughout the year and the disease spreads more during seasonal periods such as the rainy season, when the weather is hot and humid, or when there are few patients with severe disease progression or with common flu-like symptoms. Covid-19 is similar to other respiratory diseases in terms of outbreak time and disease progression related to weather and season.

Statistics show that from January 1 to May 11, Thailand had a total of 14,937 hospitalizations due to Covid-19 infection, of which 104 cases died. Data from 3 to 4 years ago until now shows that the Covid-19 patient mortality rate has decreased from 0.98% in 2020 and 2021 to 0.04% in 2024, which is equivalent to influenza and lower than dengue fever.

The Thai Ministry of Health 's recommendation for people to prevent Covid-19 is to continue wearing masks in crowded places or places with a high risk of exposure to sources of infection.
