According to Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Tran Thanh Hoa, from July 1, after restructuring the organizational structure, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions has 60 civil servants and employees assigned to 4 specialized departments.
The province is currently home to over 420,000 ethnic minorities. Among them are 98 outstanding village elders and 483 prestigious people among ethnic minorities. The province has 49 communes, 95 villages and hamlets in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; 3 extremely disadvantaged communes and 46 extremely disadvantaged hamlets.
The province has 863 religious establishments. Of these, 25 religious organizations are recognized by the state with nearly 2,200 religious establishments, 46,100 dignitaries, monks, nuns, and officials, and nearly 2,6 million followers.
From now until the end of 2025, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions will focus on implementing 11 key tasks: continuing to implement contents related to the organization of the apparatus to ensure organizational stability and effective operation of state management agencies in the fields of ethnicity, belief and religion; continuing to implement the National Target Program on socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas and ethnic policies in the area; enhancing the application of information technology to support ethnic minorities in socio -economic development and ensuring security and order; strengthening the work of grasping the situation in ethnic minority areas, in belief and religious activities to promptly grasp and resolve incidents occurring in ethnic and religious work...
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Truong Son agreed with the tasks for the last 6 months of the year set forth by the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Truong Son requested the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions to continue to promote proactiveness, grasp the situation and closely coordinate with departments and branches to resolve arising and outstanding issues in ethnic and religious affairs. In response to new tasks, leaders of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions need to continue to guide and support cadres and civil servants in charge of ethnic and religious affairs at the commune level in their professional and technical work to effectively perform assigned tasks...
