(Dan Sinh) - On the afternoon of July 10, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (LD-TB&XH) of Can Tho City held a conference to review topics on labor, meritorious people and social affairs in the first 6 months of the year, and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2023. On this occasion, the Department was honored to receive the Government Emulation Flag; many collectives and individuals who excellently completed their tasks were awarded Certificates of Merit at all levels.

Attending the conference were members of the Board of Directors of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Can Tho City; leaders of departments, offices and affiliated units; leaders of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of districts in the city. Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien - Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City attended and directed the conference.

On this occasion, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Can Tho City was honored to receive the Government's Emulation Flag for 02 collectives, which have excellently completed their tasks, leading the patriotic emulation movement in 2022 of Can Tho City.

According to the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, in the first 6 months of 2023, the city's Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs created jobs for 27,998 workers (of which 329 were sent to work abroad), reaching 55.4% of the annual plan. Vocationaltraining institutions recruited and trained 23,024 people, reaching 51.16% of the annual plan; The poverty rate as of June 2023 was 0.52% of the total number of households, equivalent to 1,904 households (according to current regulations, this data will only be reviewed and decisions to recognize poor and near-poor households will be issued at the end of the year).

The sector has received, reviewed and resolved policies for over 1,500 cases of people with meritorious services and relatives of people with meritorious services to the revolution; paid monthly allowances to 62,520 people with meritorious services to the revolution with a total budget of over 108 billion VND, ensuring that the allowances are correct, sufficient and reach the recipients. In the social sector, the sector has regularly provided allowances to over 246,000 social protection beneficiaries in the community with a total budget of over 138 billion VND...

In addition, taking care of the health and life of people with meritorious services is identified as a regular task of the sector with practical and specific actions such as: organizing 04 trips with 317 people with meritorious services to the revolution to receive concentrated treatment in Da Lat city and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province; implementing home-based treatment for 1,923 people; organizing 02 sightseeing delegations with 90 people with meritorious services to the revolution to visit the capital Hanoi, meet with Party and State leaders, leaders of central ministries and branches, etc.

All Vietnamese Heroic Mothers still living in Can Tho city are taken care of by agencies, units and individuals until the end of their lives. In addition, the city's "gratitude" fund has mobilized over 3 billion VND to continue building and repairing 52 gratitude houses for people with meritorious services who are facing housing difficulties.

In addition, the inspection, administrative reform, and digital transformation work has been carried out by the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Can Tho City and has promoted its positivity to the fullest. The results of administrative procedure settlement received and returned through the online public service portal at level 3-4 are 583/674, reaching a rate of 86.50%. Completing the digitization of the results of administrative procedure settlement stored in valid paper copies under the authority of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and its affiliated units (with a number of 5,009 results, a rate of 100%). From January 1, 2023 to present, 414 results have been returned and digitized from the Administrative Procedure Settlement Information System of Can Tho City.

However, the remaining 6 months of 2023 still have many challenges, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic still leaves many consequences such as: many businesses cut production scale, unbalanced labor resources, increased burden on the social security system... requiring all of us not to be satisfied with the results achieved but need to make more efforts.

Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien awarded certificates of merit from the Chairman of the City People's Committee to officials, civil servants and public employees of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.

In his speech, comrade Nguyen Thuc Hien requested the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of the city to continue to focus on implementing contents related to the responsibilities of the sector; monitor the situation, proactively analyze, forecast, and have plans to respond to adverse situations regarding labor, employment and social security. Promote the reception, settlement and improvement of quality, and substantial implementation of online public services. Effectively implement credit programs to create jobs, vocational training for workers, and timely supply human resources to businesses.

In addition, continue to effectively implement preferential policies for people with revolutionary contributions; implement programs, projects, schemes, and international cooperation models related to children in the area. Develop a plan for digital data development; focus on digitalization to build, connect, and share data on labor, people with revolutionary contributions, and society.
