On the evening of April 23, the launching event of the Official Vietnam Chart took place in Ho Chi Minh City.
This is a chart operated by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), within the framework of the Official Southeast Asia Charts - a music chart recently launched for the Southeast Asian market, synthesizing the most popular songs in Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore.
Son Tung bombs The Official Vietnam Chart
Mr. Simon Seow - IFPI's Southeast Asia Regional Director - assessed Vietnam as a region with a dynamic music market with many new artists, content creators, and producers. They are the bridge to bring Vietnamese music closer to the audience.
"In the IFPI global report in 2024, the Vietnamese music market recorded an encouraging growth rate of 32% compared to the previous year. From those positive signals, we decided to launch a completely new official chart in Vietnam.
This will be a place for artists, singers and music producers to connect more closely with their audiences," said Mr. Simon Seow.
In addition to launching the new music chart, within the framework of the event, IFPI also honored and awarded artists in the Top 10 Local Songs and Top 10 Local Artists 2024.
For the Top 10 Local Songs, the songs named include After the rain (Coolkid, Rhyder), Beautiful day to say goodbye (Lou Hoang) , Used to know (Wren Evans, itsnk), Accept the way you say lose (BAN, Coolkid, and Rhyder), Life Partner (Karik, GDucky), Used to be (Vu Cat Tuong) Forgotten promises (Vu.), We of the future and Don't break my heart (Son Tung M-TP).
Remarkable, Son Tung M-TP is the only singer to have two songs in the Top 10 Local Songs, simultaneously occupying the top 1 and 2 positions of the chart. This achievement is considered reasonable and convincing when both hits created a big fever in 2024.
Not stopping there, Son Tung M-TP also affirmed his appeal when he excellently led the list of Top 10 Local Artists.
The male singer's outstanding appearance on both charts shows his lasting influence in Vietnamese music.
The remaining artists in the Top 10 Local Artists include RPT MCK, ITSNK, Rhyder, Den, Wren Evans, Low G, tlinh, Vu., HIEUTHUHAI.
As one of the artists appearing on two charts at the same time, Vu. could not hide his emotions. He said this was the first time he received a major award in front of a large crowd.
"Last year, when I stood in front of 22,000 people at my concert, I never thought that one day I would be here holding this award.
Last year was quite a difficult year for me. When I decided to do the concert, I hesitated a lot, but in the end everything was successful and I achieved the dream that I set for myself in life" - Vu. share.
The Official Vietnam Chart is committed to transparency.
The Official Vietnam Chart is a weekly music chart based on streaming data from global music apps such as Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify and YouTube. More than just a data aggregation, the chart reflects current trends and the constant movement of the music industry in Vietnam.
Results will be announced every Tuesday on the website and on the official Instagram and Facebook channels of Official SEA Charts.
The Official Vietnam Chart is one of 5 official charts in the Southeast Asian market including Official Indonesia Chart, Official Thailand Chart, Official Singapore Chart and Official Malaysia Chart.
The data collection week lasts from Friday to Thursday. The results will be announced every Tuesday on the website and on the official Instagram and Facebook channels of Official SEA Charts.
In addition to the official country rankings, four specialized rankings are published each week.
All charts include eligible streams on Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify and YouTube, with The Official Indonesia Chart and The Official Indonesia Domestic Chart also including streams on the Langit Musik platform.
Under IFPI's global ranking principles, streams from each market are adjusted based on the difference in economic value between free and paid music streaming service tiers. This helps the charts reflect the quantity and value of streams across the region, highlighting the songs that are truly the most valuable of the week. |
