According to the Hanoi CDC, the current hot weather with heavy rain is favorable for the emergence of disease-carrying mosquitoes. The number of recorded dengue fever cases tends to increase, some outbreaks are prolonged, and patients continue to be recorded.
The districts with the most cases recorded this week include: Dan Phuong, Ha Dong, Hoang Mai, Hai Ba Trung, Phuc Tho, Bac Tu Liem, Nam Tu Liem, Cau Giay.
Last week, 16 dengue fever outbreaks were also recorded in Dan Phuong, Bac Tu Liem, Nam Tu Liem, Phuc Tho, Dong Anh, Gia Lam, Ha Dong, Hai Ba Trung, and Hoang Mai.
Since the beginning of 2024, the capital has recorded 2,549 cases of dengue fever and 120 outbreaks. Currently, Hanoi still has 30 active outbreaks of dengue fever.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Do Duy Cuong, Director of the Tropical Disease Center, Bach Mai Hospital, since the beginning of August, the Center has recorded many dengue fever patients admitted to the hospital. The cases are mainly in Hanoi and some northern provinces, many of whom are hospitalized in serious condition.
According to monitoring results at some outbreaks in Hanoi, insect indexes are still recorded at levels exceeding the risk threshold, and it is predicted that the number of cases may increase in the coming time.
The Hanoi Department of Health directed the District Health Centers to proactively monitor the indicators of mosquito larvae and dengue-transmitting mosquitoes in areas with cases, outbreaks, and high-risk areas, thereby deploying appropriate and timely response activities.
In addition, units monitoring dengue fever outbreak areas are operating in Phu Dong, Gia Lam; Phung Thuong, Phuc Tho; Dai Mo, Nam Tu Liem; Thuong Cat, Bac Tu Liem; Phuong Trung, Thanh Oai; Dung Tien, Thuong Tin. At the same time, they are propagating to people to sleep with mosquito nets and proactively kill mosquito larvae in their living areas.
