Repairing Ben Thau suspension bridge, Xuan Thuong commune, damaged by storm No. 3

The bridge was damaged in the flood after storm No. 3 in 2024.

Ben Thau suspension bridge, Xuan Thuong commune, crosses the Chay river, connecting Xuan Thuong commune with National Highway 70 through Phuc Khanh commune. This is a route that ensures travel for hundreds of households in Xuan Thuong commune, Viet Tien and neighboring areas.

Floodwaters have twisted the bridge deck.

The bridge was damaged after the flood caused by storm No. 3 last year, making it difficult for people to travel and transport goods and agricultural and forestry products.

The bridge crosses the Chay River, connecting Xuan Thuong commune with National Highway 70 through Phuc Khanh commune.

According to the project approval decision, the repair unit will dismantle the old bridge, replace the main cable system, anti-wave cables, anti-cross cables; replace part of the railing; replace all steel longitudinal beams; redesign all steel cross beams; design the bridge deck with 5mm thick corrugated iron, and design anti-slip on the bridge deck...

The travel of hundreds of households is affected by the broken bridge.

In addition, the project will also repaint the entire steel structure of the bridge and renew the approach road to the bridge on Xuan Thuong side, 20m long and 3m wide.

The total estimated cost of the project is about 4.5 billion VND from targeted additional funding from the provincial budget to the district budget, along with support, contributions and other legal sources of capital. The project is expected to be completed in 2025.
