Journalistic works to prevent and combat negative social impacts are very large.

On the evening of November 5, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front coordinated with the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television to organize the 4th National Press Awards Ceremony for Anti-Corruption and Negativity, 2022-2023. SGGP Newspaper won the B and Encouragement Prizes in this selection.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Do Van Chien, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and former leaders of the Party and State.

This is one of the meaningful events to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam National United Front - Vietnam Fatherland Front Traditional Day (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2023).

After 2 years of organization, as of August 31, the organizing committee has received 1,078 valid works for 4 categories: print newspaper, electronic newspaper, radio, television from 121 central and local press agencies.

The members of the Final Jury carefully considered and unanimously selected 54 outstanding works to award 4 A prizes; 10 B prizes; 12 C prizes; and 28 Encouragement prizes.

SGGP Newspaper won the B Prize with the series of articles "Eliminate formal emulation and "lobbying" for rewards" by the group of authors Lam Nguyen - Do Trung and the Encouragement Prize for the series of 4 articles on "Controlling power, personnel work and the fight against corruption and negativity" by the group of authors Tran Luu - Hoai Nam - Van Minh - Quoc Khanh.

According to the organizers, in general, this year's entries adhered closely to the theme, criteria, and rules of the award. Many entries were of good quality, highly discoverable, demonstrating dedication and persistence in investigating corruption and negative incidents, creating a huge social impact and bringing positive results in the fight against corruption and negative incidents.

The new point of this award is that there have been more works written about preventing and combating negativity that have been highly appreciated by the steering committee and the organizing committee; at the same time, there have been more works on the topic of praising and encouraging bravery in the fight against corruption and negativity, which have had a widespread impact in society.

The 54 works selected by the Final Jury to win the prize were the result of careful investigation, with many articles written over weeks, months, and even years to get to the bottom of the truth.

Speaking at the award ceremony, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested continuing to strengthen the Party's leadership and the State's management and administration so that the Vietnamese revolutionary press can operate in the right direction and actively and effectively participate in the fight against corruption and negativity.

At the same time, further promote the role of supervision and social criticism of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio- political organizations, and people in the fight to prevent and repel degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, manifestations of self-evolution and self-transformation among party members and the fight against corruption and negativity; reflect and strongly criticize the situation of shirking, shirking, fear of responsibility, and not daring to act among a number of cadres and party members.

In addition, it is necessary to strengthen coordination and cooperation between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and all levels, sectors and press agencies to further improve the effectiveness of information work, create high unity in awareness and action among cadres, party members and people in preventing and combating corruption and negativity; gradually build a culture of thrift, a culture of integrity, and no corruption or waste.

First of all, cadres and party members must be exemplary, focus on strengthening social consensus, and create close ties between the Party, State and people in preventing and combating corruption and negativity.

Along with that, strongly promote the role and social responsibility of the press team in the fight against corruption and negativity; focus on propagating examples of good people and good deeds; promote solution journalism and constructive journalism to promptly propose and recommend solutions to continue building and perfecting institutions on Party building and rectification and the political system; perfect policies and laws on preventing and combating corruption and negativity; overcome obstacles and loopholes in policies and laws, handle them fundamentally and thoroughly, and prevent corruption and negativity from occurring.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia also requested press agencies and journalists' associations at all levels to promote their roles and responsibilities in protecting the legitimate rights and interests of journalists and members in preventing and combating corruption and negativity. Strengthen propaganda and political education , raise awareness of responsibility and professional ethics of journalists in the work of building and rectifying the Party and developing a prosperous and happy country.

At the same time, there should be a timely and appropriate mechanism for rewarding, encouraging, motivating and honoring press agencies and journalists who have a spirit of dedication and make positive and effective contributions to information, propaganda, and the fight against corruption and negativity; continue to innovate the organization of press awards for preventing and combating negativity, so that journalists have the opportunity to participate more actively, with many quality works, creating social effects, contributing strength to the fight against corruption and negativity.
