Temporarily suspending traffic on Song Lo bridge in Doan Hung commune, Phu Tho

Immediately after discovering the damaged bored pile of the Song Lo bridge, spanning the Lo river in Doan Hung commune, Phu Tho province, the Department of Construction of Phu Tho province directed to temporarily stop people and vehicles from circulating on this bridge.

Song Lo Bridge crosses the Lo River connecting Doan Hung commune, Phu Tho province with some communes of Tuyen Quang province.

On October 29, the leader of the Department of Construction of Phu Tho province said that the department is inviting an independent consulting unit to inspect the quality of all bridge piers, from which a specific assessment of the safety of the bridge and the next handling plan will be made.

Specific results are expected to be available in the next few days. Currently, the Department of Construction has sent a team to inspect, assess the current situation and report to the People's Committee of Phu Tho province.

T3 pillar of Song Lo bridge is damaged.

In recent days, clips and images have appeared on social networks describing the reality at the foot of the T3 pillar of the Song Lo bridge, where the drilled piles reveal… soil cores and rusty steel bars, posing a safety risk to people and vehicles traveling on the bridge.

The temporary suspension of traffic through Song Lo Bridge greatly affects the lives of people on both banks of the Lo River (with about 10,000 people), affecting the transportation of goods and medical examination and treatment.

Every day many students have to travel dozens of kilometers to school (instead of just 3km).

A rusted pile of T3 pier poses a safety risk.

Song Lo Bridge was inaugurated and put into use in 2015. The bridge is over 500m long, has 8 pillars, and a designed load of 30 tons. This is the bridge connecting the center of Doan Hung commune, Phu Tho province with the communes of Tuyen Quang province.

To ensure people's safety, Phu Tho province has banned people from traveling on the bridge since the afternoon of October 27 and is conducting traffic diversion.

Accordingly, people from the center of Doan Hung commune, Phu Tho province go to Hung Son commune, Dong Tho, Tuyen Quang province, then follow National Highway 2 to Km99+800, turn left over Kim Xuyen bridge to go to Tuyen Quang and vice versa.

People from Phu Tho to Tuyen Quang, follow National Highway 2 to Km123+800, turn to Provincial Road 186, continue moving across An Hoa Bridge and vice versa.
